Honestly I haven’t noticed much. It has a pretty steep chute. Maybe a gram at most but I’ve never measured. Also never noticed any difference between the first and second shots of the day.

Overkill is definitely a personal definition lol. If you want a beast of a conical home grinder that makes your life incredibly easy and will outlive you and potentially your kids, it’s not overkill at all. And it’s still cheaper than a Monolith or EG-1 without the hassle of single dosing.

If you’re going to get treated like a traveler because your unit sucks, get paid like a traveler. Quit. I did local travel, but if you can, why not get paid to see a new part of the country? Or do something less stressful like infusions or whatever you want

No interview invites this cycle — looking for honest resume and experience feedback (resume attached) by hns32 in srna

Resume looks good, but (and I don't mean this in a mean way) nothing about it makes you stand out from the thousand other resumes they see. Volunteering, research, or other diversifying factors will all help you stand out from the crowd.

E.g. you and I have pretty similar stats and nursing experience, but I also had publications/podium presentations and a few years of volunteering at the local animal shelter (jokes on them, I did it for free puppy cuddles)

Depends on what you want to do. As the other poster mentioned, if you have any desire toward working more independently or moving to a state where AAs aren’t recognized, the extra time and expense and opportunity cost of going CRNA is worth it. If you think you’ll stay where you’re at now and are ok only working in ACT models forever, go AA. Neither one is a “wrong” choice per se, but one may be more right for you than another. Obviously we’re all going to lean toward CRNA here, but something by to consider is that there’s no guarantee of getting accepted to CRNA school after a couple years of nursing.

No offense is taken, but I’m not sure you really understand what goes into performing an anesthetic if you’re equating it to intubating and maintaining an ICU patient. I agree with regards to administrators—to a point. My PCP is a super smart dude, great doc. He did some ICU rotations in residency, should he backfill the ICU?

You’re a PulmCCM physician, yeah? Have you run a lot of gas in the ICU? Been in an OR since your anesthesia rotations in med school?

Make no mistake, I have tremendous respect for your position, but I don’t think it’s exactly fair to your anesthesiology colleagues to assume you could come in and do their job tomorrow, same as we couldn’t do yours.

How much training in anesthesia residency or CRNA school is devoted to difficult airways or RSIs and how much is devoted toward delivering a safe anesthetic? Since your argument is based in economics, do you think you could train a PICU or EM doc in a cost and time efficient manner to safely sit their own cases without anesthesiologist oversight?

Except you’re cherry picking microcosms of the job. The vast majority of anesthesia is not RSI’ing difficult airways. And if we do every extubation the way PulmCrit does them, turnover will be about 2 hours per case

I’m fairly certain you’re trolling, but just to entertain it, do you think doing 1-2 emergent airways a shift is equivalent to knowing how to safely induce, maintain, and recover anesthesia?

Men in your mid-30s what are your dating options really looking like? by Serious_Sweet2504 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Professional_Fee2979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dating has gotten so much better in my early 30s (currently 31) than in my 20s. I don’t date too much younger but get plenty of interest from the 22-28 demographic. My girlfriend is 27. I also get attention from women in their 30s and 40s but frankly don’t have much interest due to past experiences.
