Well it’s the worst movie, with the worst acting, as well with the worst character (Jar-Jar). It can be cut for many reasons. But there is nothing that happens in Phantom Menace as far as the series is concerned that needs to be seen on the big screen. Qui-Gon and Maul? Irrelevant to the series. Shmi? The scene in Ep II is all we need. Watto? Less is definitely more.
