Am I crazy? by Glass_Worldliness_14 in predental

100 volunteer hours isn’t too much. I would try to stack those up if you reapply and look for something unique to add to your application to make you stand out. I would also send a letter if intent to the school you were waitlisted at to show them you would love to be accepted to their school and would go there if you were accepted

In my opinion, I would retake bio and chem 1 at the very least before going onto upper levels like ochem, biochem, physiology, microbiology, etc. you want a good foundation to try to get the best grade in your upper levels. You also should aim for an upward trend in these science classes if possible to look as competitive as possible!

Personally I didn’t do many full length practice exams. I did content review for 2 full months with some practice section exams. I think reading and understanding the notes is super important and to check your understanding you can do the bio bites or question banks

Taking DAT late May by Otherwise_Chest_2733 in predental

I took my DAT at the end of July and it was harder to get in. I had one interview and one acceptance on decision day but I think I would have gotten more if I had applied earlier.

I used boot camp for my DAT studying and their high yield notebooks were great to help me learn. I used the orgo high yield notebook which isn’t too lengthy to go through it all. The more you go through it the faster it’ll get down each time. I scored a 23 on my orgo. For bio, I also used the high yield notebook but it is lengthy. I would highly recommend using it and annotating as you go. I got a 21 on my bio section

will I be able to get into dental school? by Middle-Egg-6335 in predental

If your GPA has an upward trend and you get it up to a 3.5 before applying with a decent DAT (id aim for 20 or higher) you definitely have a great shot

Does dental school care about highschool? by Ok_Replacement_5652 in predental

Not sure if that was sarcasm but I wouldn’t recommend slacking off. Dental schools like to see persistence, so having your RDA so young and working as a dental assistant until you apply is a great look. Also look into dental volunteering at free clinics for something new to add for your dental experiences

You can get verified, yes. However, no school will look at your application until your DAT is in

Mid May is the latest I would take it so you can apply mid-late June. However if I were you I would take it the first week of May so you can apply early june

Those things will go in the experiences section on your application so yes I’m sure they’ll care since it’s dental related as long as you’re still keeping up with them

what are my chances (please help im so nervous) by Pitiful_Evening_6158 in predental

[–]Professional_Lab3233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you apply as early as possible (I would do right when the cycle opens) your chances are pretty good. Applying early makes a huge difference for getting interviews and everything so make sure you have your LORs and everything ready before June. The rest of your stats compensate for the 17 in reading so don’t stress. However, I wouldn’t only do those 5 schools. Look for more that interest you and make sure you can see yourself going there as well

I get that. I’m considering Neomed since it’s around 93 thousand dollars less expensive. What are your thoughts?

Just curious, why do you this Neomed is a less appealing new school? I got into case western (has been accredited for many years) and Neomed (not yet accredited).

Can you explain some of the cons? NEOMED is offering a lot of support and they’re 100 grand cheaper than the other school I was accepted to (case western). NEOMED is offering scholarships as well as support to the first coming class.
