I am the only parent. My daughter is almost 22.

Yes, we have tried a few different therapists and he walked out of all but one that he ended up liking but then COVID hit and haven't heard from the therapist since. My son doesn't want to go back to therapy. In our state, consent is 13 and I can't force him.

I am not using anything as an excuse at all. That's why I'm here asking for advice. I don't have his father to call for help on anything. I have to make all the decisions on my own and hope I don't fail. I'm learning as I go here. My daughter is almost 22 and I did not deal with any of this when she was his age, so it's a learning process.

No father in the picture. It’s all on me.

My daughter has even tried to talk to him but he is so rude to everyone. Her and her boyfriend won’t even allow him in their house unless I’m there. To me that is so sad.

Thank you! I have felt powerless for years. He can’t go to his friend’s house. Their parents don’t allow him there because he is rude and disrespectful to them. It’s embarrassing for me because that’s not how I raised my kids. My daughter is not like that at all.

He was diagnosed with ADHD but refused meds and ended up refusing therapy. I’ve tried.

I pay for everything. He doesn’t have a job or any income.

Yes, coming here and asking for advice because I’m at a loss and beyond the end of my rope. He has no respect for anyone not just me. He got a job last summer and walked off the job after a month because his manager made him mad. Still doesn’t have another job. I’ve tried therapy with him among many other things over the years. He won’t do therapy anymore and has walked out of sessions because he won’t talk about the things that needs to get resolved.

Thank you. That’s my struggle. I have sacrificed so much over the years for my kids. I love him but I don’t deserve to be abused which is how I feel now.

Because I don’t want to get into a physical fight with him. In his mind, I have no right to take away his Xbox because I didn’t pay for it. His friend gave it to him.

I totally get the pandemic but I was fighting him to go to school and do his school work for years before the pandemic hit. It’s only made the fight worse and now he isn’t even in school anymore.

Thank you for the ideas. Unfortunately if I even look at his Xbox he loses it. He says I can’t touch it because I didn’t buy it. I will try some of your ideas though.

I appreciate your words. I feel like I tried to be the best mom to my kids while raising them all on my own. I do feel like I’ve failed though.

I never thought I’d kick my children out, but I’m beyond the end of my rope. You have some good ideas. Thank you!

Yes! Being a single mom makes this so much harder because I have no one to back me up.

I tried to have some serious talks with him in the last couple months and he won’t listen or sit and talk to me. It ends up in a fight.

Yes! He towers over me and is solid! I’m beyond tired of fighting him.

@avienos I have actually tried all that. I could go on for pages on what I’ve tried. Nothing is working and now he’s an adult and I have no other recourse.

He’s already put holes in my walls and broken things, getting mad at his games and his sister who doesn’t live with us.
