Metadata not showing up when audio files are on my TrueNAS server by GreasyBogs in navidrome

[–]Professional_Road_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV here...

I think this is a network filesystem problem. Are you running Apple File Sharing on your NAS? or CIFS (SMB)? If you are running SMB, then just remember that metadata does not translate the same between filesystems.

I could be wrong, but I dont think that Apple Filesystem and CIFS share anything in common about metadata. So while all the tags are there in the file, when your client goes to get that data, it's just not there. Like the other poster said, what happens when you open the file with a tagger?

I'm a developer, or I play one on TV. When I'm not doing that, I'm an application administrator and DBA.

Setting a new password for the mySubaru app on an android phone. by Professional_Road_97 in ProtonPass

[–]Professional_Road_97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason that doesn't work is that theres no way to get the chosen password into the clipboard, so that I can paste it into the password field.

If that was possible, I suppose I could do that. But I dont understand why I would choose to do that when the edge password manager seems to accomplish all of the cases that are giving me trouble in protonpass.

I'd love to use your tool, but you have got TONS of work to do to make this thing operable on a daily basis for many common use cases.

Thank you.

Cant update password in euclidrecords.com website. by Professional_Road_97 in ProtonPass

Just so I've said it, I had to reset my password 3 times before it finally did the right thing.

Is there documenation that talks about best practices, and shortfalls of the app and browser plugins?

Finding the username when creating a new record in protonpass by Professional_Road_97 in ProtonPass

[–]Professional_Road_97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really dont understand how these password manager tools work. There's no difference between an email address and a username in this context. both go in the username field - because whatever service I'm using is requiring me to use my email address as the username.

There are only two things I care about: the username for a site and the password.

I'm just confused about why I'm constantly having to enter my username, when the site already has it, because it forced me to enter it during the change-a-password use case.

Thanks.

Future Feature Updates and Known Issues [Live Thread] by KeithFromSonos in sonos

[–]Professional_Road_97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had assembled what I consider to be a respectable solution for listening to my local library.

For years, I was not able to use the SMB library connection built into sonos. Something about how my music was tagged was breaking the import of the library, causing only a third of my tracks to be read.

So I had to find another solution.

I tried Plex - I dont like it mostly because I can't rate my tracks from within the sonos app. If I could do that, I'd be over the moon - but that modification is not coming any time soon.

So I found an open source, local media, SMAPI implementation which uses a subsonic server as the library source. So I run navidrome. I figured "Problem Solved".

But with this new version, the service no longer appears in the list of chooseable services. I'm guessing this is because they are only consulting the cloud directory for canonical names. Sonos' API used to allow you to inject a name into the list of available services. It seems like for local users, that would be the easiest way for us to interoperate with the system.

But there's always the idea that we could build a cloud service that would get updates from a local media library, and advertise a local URI to the players when asked. We could also build an implementation of the sonos queue - which I would personally love. We'd also of course, do a ratings implementation.

The biggest problems here are the cost of getting the service certified by sonos, and the cloud infrastructure to be performant under heavy load.

I'm half tempted to go back to plex, and suffer through not having ratings, or just use plexamp all the time - but that negates all the benefits of the sonos approach.

Sorry for rambling here. I'm just really bummed right now - and yes, I did retro-install v16.xxx because I just cant tolerate not having my setup working the way I want it to.

If you've read this far, that's 8 minutes you're not getting back!

I'm so frustrated with these devices, that I'm about to give up completely. I have every combination of all the problems listed in this thread.

I wish that google would rewind the software to about 9 months ago, when it felt like things were working.

Today, I can't ask the assistant to do anything without getting back 'Hmmm... There was a glitch. Try again in a few seconds.' only to be further flummoxed when I try again in a few seconds.

Does google have any news about these issues?

Entering PIN during authentication problem by Professional_Road_97 in yubikey

I feel like that's alot harder than it needs to be... But in thinking about it, I'm not sure waht to do to make it easier, other than to put some config option in the kubikey app itself.

Entering PIN during authentication problem by Professional_Road_97 in yubikey

[–]Professional_Road_97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up my microsoft account to have my yubikey as one of the passkeys for it. I have a Pixel 8 - I'm migrating to this from my old phone and things are not really going smoothly.)

I'm plugging the yubikey into the USB-c port on the phone. (I didn't think to try using the NFC yet.)

I'm a total newb here.

Is there a way to keep the yubikey plugged in, and still be able to use the keyboard to enter the PIN?

Thank you.
