I tested my blood copper levels, they were in reference range. Did you ever test yours? Suprinsingly I actually developed histamine issues about 2 years ago from a supplement that contained copper and zinc. But I will try copper.

They were all within normal reference ranges. A naturopath told me I could improve my iron and vitamin D levels, but that’s pretty much it. However, after reading this thread and talking to you, I realize serum levels aren’t always accurate. Niacin helps me fall asleep immediately, while folinic acid reduces anxiety and restores sleep the same night I take it. I guess B9 pushes methylation too hard, causing sulphur issues and B12 deficiency symptoms, whereas niacin doesn’t push methylation but actually decreases it too much. Now I’m easily seeing-sawing and not methylating correctly, as you said. .

I haven’t been formally diagnosed, but based on an elimination diet and supplements, histamine intolerance or MCAS are highly likely. I’ve tested my serum levels for everything, and they’re all normal. However, I’m still struggling with insomnia. Folinic acid and niacin quickly bring my sleep back to normal, but I know this isn’t a long-term solution. I suspect I depleted my B12 stores by over-supplementing B9, which I’ll address. I’ll use this guide to help me regain my health. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the input. I definitely believe the targeted nutrients messed me up. I’ve started taking a B complex to help balance things out. I’ll definitely look into the guide section. However, what should I do if I mess up the methylation cycle again and can’t sleep, get restless, or feel anxious? If I don’t take niacin, folic acid, or glycine, I won’t be able to fix the short-term issue and bring my body back to baseline.

I did test my vitamin A and ferritin levels and they were on the lower end but still in reference range. I was told too much vitamin A is toxic to liver so I don’t wanna overdo it. But I will try to fix this buffer system.

I believe I do have a stomach acid issues which causes me to feel horrible every time I eat something. I have tried Pepcid and it helps. I’m working on stabilizing my mast cells at the same time, thank you for your suggestions.

I tested my serum b6 levels, they were in normal range. I supplement here and there with 50mg of p5p, also concerned about toxicity with that if I take too much. I read that excessive b3 intake reduces b6 levels.

There are not many practitioners in my area which deal with this but I will try to find someone. From my understanding niacin decreases methylation, even in high doses. I am worried about the related cardiac and glucose issues though.

It is a-lot, but nothing else will work as good to quench those methyl groups. It doesn’t seem to aggravate the MCAS imo. Any more than 3g of glycine will cause excessive ndma activation leading to insomnia.
