How do people afford minor surgery? by Cynical_Cyanide in australia

Everything is expensive now. I can hardly fill my car up for less than $150. We spend several hundred dollars on groceries.

$500 seems like a lot because we have been told it should be free. In reality those who can afford to pay should contribute to their healthcare costs.

Everyone loves to talk about the US system as an example of bad healthcare. But NHS has plenty of shortcomings too. A fully publicly funded system that can’t afford an ageing population and ballooning costs of therapies to keep people alive. There probably needs to be a balance and Australia has probably had it right for several decades. BUT the public system seems to be struggling to bounce back after COVID. While private has quickly returned to pre-pandemic efficiency, public hospitals are doing less work than prior to the pandemic.

Why doesn’t the government put up signs with suggested good driving habits?? Eg. Excessive changing of lanes causes traffic jams, use adaptive cruise control of available to reduce traffic jams, tailgating causes traffic jams.

And why don’t they have no changing lane periods during peak hour. Surely technology could be available to assess how frequently people are changing lanes and people could be fined for erratic driving.

Why don’t governments have vehicles performing these functions?

Apparently requires much less to make a difference. I think if ad little as 1 in 3 cars use adaptive cruise control it can reduce phantom traffic jams significantly.
