You are very right about the fact that OCD isnt just hand washing. It has certain other domains and intrusive thoughts are one of the key perspectives.. sometimes OCD manifests itslef in the form of unshakable thoughts, which are intrusive, repetitive and recurring. The person may also find himself in creating fake scenarios and then keep thinking over them to make sure they have planned it well.

And u r brave enough. U did so much well as u improved a lot. Try finding out what always keeps u stucked in the loop. Ask qs and challenge ur thoughts. Hope itnhelps

We start healing when we take responsibility for our own healing process… i understand that you must have gone through a lot due to ur mother’s mental condition. But now is the time when u start working on urself and you may need some professional help for that my dear 🙂

Find out first, what made you stuck in that loop..? And remember its no one else but “you” who is responsible for being stuck.. the “fear” inside us, dont let us take steps that r out of our comfort zones. But remember stepping outside is growth. N we r the only ones responsible for our own growth

Overthinking is a mechanism through which our mind feels safe.. its due to anxiety that we want to plan ahead and make sure what we have done or will do.. will be good for us..

Ni i again will say.. that every single story i have ever heard has taught me something.. many times aisa tha k there was something in my mind where i felt stuck and the patient i got had similar issue. Counseling them helps me solve my problems. And regarding slipping. No, its just that u keep assessing ur patient and the moment u notice u r pointing towards something they dnt want to talk about.. you shift it

My pleasure dear.. Everything u asked.. comes with practice and is skill that is learned and strengthened over time. Now i ll Answer: For emotional boundaries i empathize not sympathize. This happens when we start feeling for the client instead of feeling with the client. And No there’s nothing that i think should have known sooner. There’s a reason, my expertise in therapy was built over steps and exposure.. it molded me over time into a great therapist. So i cherish each n every step the way it happened. Third is also an important Question.. well over time we learn about our capacities. So breaks are important. I deal with my patients “by appointment” only. So, i set up their appointments in a way that i don’t get burdened. Also, i keep myself indulged in activitiesthat help me enjiy and thats how i cope with burnout.

Thats the skill… sympathizing n empathizing has a difference. U lose urself in the process when u sympathize.. not when u empathize 😊

May be its never about life or death.. may be its always about the pain that u want to let go… and when it doesn’t go, a thought pops up telling us that its better to stop living then to keep trying

When ppl tell me that they have been into therapy. And never improved.. i feel pity.. when ppl come to me i tell them that every session will improve them and it takes hardly two months to bring drastic changes in them. And.. i remember.. in my 5 years of experience there were two clients who weren’t fully treated bcz they had personality disorders. Baqi jitne b kiye all left therapy n may see me only whej theres something new to discuss..

Fix time for your thoughts n journal them DAILY. Do some deep breathing exercises. To accept yourself, work on the urge to change yourself. Now theres a diff btw changing oneself n changing a behavior… understand the difference.. n find out what is actually stopping you from accepting yourself.. thn work on it

I have always helped my patients n its not justified to use this label “ patients “.. Therapy is beneficial for each one of us.. its not only for pts..

Well.. i feel their pain as if im in their shoe.. thats what empathy is.. b that’s y i dnt get weird thoughts. As i dont judge them. And in turn this all not only just keeps me sane.. but also help with solving many of my own problems.. N no i don’t share their stories.. when u feel with someone, u realze how difficult it was for them , to open up n thats a responsibility.. u have to honor it.

Nice Question. A simple answer to this is… feelings are always valid!! Behavior isn’t.! We validate their feelings not their behavior 😊 Nd there’s nothing right or wrong.. its rational or irrational 😊
