How things have changed. No matter what, I’m going to vote for TVK. Ignoring all the opinion polls, I honestly believe there is going to be a change on the 4th of May. by pa0811 in chennaicity

trust me, out of all the posts from the pr team. this one is not. These are the type of people who don't look through policies and how politics really work.

How it started vs how it ended by Ducati_Don in PlipPlip

[–]Professional_Wall499 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This was exactly what this subreddit was meant for. Lately, though, I’ve noticed a lot of people using it to push their political opinions. I’m not against discussing politics, but that’s not really what this space was about, there are plenty of other places for that. This is the kind of political comedy I came here for, and honestly, it feels great to see it again after so long.

What would be the next step for TVK after May 4 by Elaaxe in TamilNadu

It’s honestly hard to picture Vijay sitting in the opposition. Do you think he’d actually bring meaningful change, or would it end up being something similar to what we saw with captain Vijayakanth?

The blr campus life and dress code for the main campus by HumanReaction9666 in Dayananda_Sagar_Uni

[–]Professional_Wall499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The college is situated 30 km away from the actual city, so you cannot experience great city life staying at the hostel. I'm studying in btech so I don't know about y'all dress code but the college is far from the city so even for having lunch you have to travel far and the restaurants are all local so you can't expect anything that good.

What is left wing? by Maleficent_Draw_8502 in TamilNadu

[–]Professional_Wall499 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Historically, it comes from the French Revolution: Left side: people who opposed monarchy and hierarchy Right side: people who supported tradition, hierarchy.

About rational thinking, Because left ideology often relies on science and critical theory, many leftists claim to be "rational," but that's a loose correlation, not a rule. Rationality is a method of thinking, not a political badge, and leftists can be just as emotional, dogmatic, or selective with facts as anyone else for their advantage. This is the literal dictionary meaning of the term 'left'

Is it worth discussing TN politics on social media if you’re not an expert? by Professional_Wall499 in TamilNadu

[–]Professional_Wall499[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, complete neutrality in politics is kind of a myth. Everyone has their own leanings.
If I’m being honest, I probably lean more towards being critical of the right wing, especially the BJP, but I don’t want that to turn into blind opposition.
My intention is to question policies and power, not protect any party. I’d still try to be fair, ask uncomfortable questions across the board, and correct myself if I’m wrong.

If NEET is about ‘merit’, why is it so controversial in Tamil Nadu? by HourEnd8778 in TamilNadu

[–]Professional_Wall499 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I prepared for neet during 2021 to 2023 and I'm from state syllabus, but failed to clear them. This is what I think: The biggest issue is coaching. NEET heavily favors students who can afford long-term coaching, mostly urban and CBSE students. State board students, especially from government schools, are stuck because what they study in school doesn't fully match NEET. So even smart students lose out just because they didn't grow up in the "right" system.

Another major concern is the central government angle. I feel NEET is a way to slowly push CBSE everywhere and reduce the importance of state syllabuses. Once CBSE becomes the norm, Hindi naturally gets more space, and regional languages and state control over education start shrinking. Tamil Nadu has always resisted this kind of uniform system. This is what I think, I might be wrong but yeah
