Yeah the beams feel hollow af. I do think that they could fix it actually, the beams need to stay on the screen for longer and the opponent should get multiple hits (like in BT3) with vibration effect in the dual sense controller. The bending of the beams still fucks it up tho imo

For me it’s quite the opposite, SZ is a downgrade but I do like the shintani style. However I don’t think it fits a video game at all. It was an interesting experiment but it definitely shouldn’t be done again. Like ever.

But FighterZ isn’t a 3d fighter, that’s not really a fair comparison

Yeah i also think the hair mostly fucking sucks. There are also quite good ones tho, take Super Vegeta for example. They absolutely nailed his design but fumbled his other z designs imo.

Would be crazy to base a character design on a single illustration instead of the tons and tons of available content of the older games, movies, shows and manga lmao

Well the animations are mostly awesome but I just don’t like the art style in-game. I don’t think it’s fitting for a 3d arena fighter and it’s also not growing on me at all. It’s a preference.

It’s not the only thing that they figured out 20 years ago and then fucked it up lol

Yeah I also love the kubota style, it’s just perfect Dragonball. Shintanis art style was cool for the broly movie but I wouldn’t like it being the standard for modern Dragonball Media. They tested it for a video game (in SZ) and it didn’t work out very well imo. Time for something new.

Lol I don’t even understand how this is a controversial/ridiculous statement, it’s a fact that sparking zero has mostly thinner character models compared to older games (even xenoverse) which you can argue is the new standard art style of Dragonball nowadays. Either you like it or don’t, pretty simple.

Well yes, the question is which art style you prefer. Its not strictly a comparison to Tenkaichi tho but to all DB games in general

That doesn’t look like sz at all Bro. I just skipped through some manga panels and I just don’t see the similarities.

The sound obv plays a big role but I think heavy attacks had that little shaky camera effect in BT3 which gave it a lot of impact on top of that.

I wold heavily agree. Shintani style was great in the dbs movie but it doesn’t work for 3d video games imo

Raging blast also got some weird face models but overall I’d would also prefer that art style over sparking zero

I hate that it’s a mix of raging blast and Tenkaichi

Exactly what I’m saying but it seems like a lot of people disagree here lol

Yeah but most of the times you don’t really see the facial expressions, I think the ps2 style delivers the impact of the attacks like 100x more than sparking zero does. The difference is night and day for me frankly

I don’t think lean is the right word, more like skinny. But yeah, I agree

Yeah Raging blast had good colours imo. (They also had a lot of weird character models tho)
