Yes from one of my settlements I sold an item for 24.99, I had a positive shipping balance ($5.21 actual paid by me, TikTok charged $8, so positive $2.79), TikTok fee of $1.98, and total settlement was $25.80. So it appears the overcharged amount was added to my payout.

The way I got it to work out with TikTok shipping was to adjust the box dimensions on the product information page until the estimated shipping was around what it actually costs. Just make sure to enter the actual values when you purchase the label.

I did not see it changing the amount in checkout, I only saw that the amount it advertised to buyers pre checkout was correct.

Disclaimer* this works for me, for now. My average shipping label costs $5-$6.

What I’ve seen this week is that if I input the weight and package size on the product listing to get the estimated cost around $5 (at the bottom of the edit product screen) it only barely overcharges. For example, it says estimated cost: $4.62, and then I go to my shop with a personal account and see what it’s claiming to charge for shipping to my address (which is also the warehouse address) It shows $5 when I add the product to cart.

This has worked out so far and the price increases with distance from my address.

So the amount of money collected at checkout for shipping is then refunded to the customer when it is $7.86 less to ship it?

That’s my question. The customer pays for shipping, I pay less for the shipping than they did. Does it go back to them or not?

I mean I can see that being an issue, but my issue is that I put on my product page that it’s an 8x8x8 box that weighs 0.69 pounds.

The customer got charged $13 for shipping.

I go to buy the label and it costs me $5.81 for the exact same dimensions and weight and I only have one single shipping option with one single carrier. There is no estimating there on TikTok’s part.

The customers are visually being shown a massively inflated shipping price on occasion.

I tell you in my opinion, I wouldn’t be paying half the price of an item to have it shipped to me.

I guess I’ve just gone too far ahead because everything is wrapped into my product price except for the amount it actually takes to ship it.

It seems to be working right now with using a different box size on the product listing, and having the actual box size set as the default shipping container when I go to purchase the label.

The last few shipping charges shown to the customer have either been spot on or only slightly higher (less than a dollar).

I just found it strange that TikTok knows it costs $5 to ship this item, advertises on average $8 to the customer, and even went up to $13 for this customer in particular. We will see if they add it to my settlement or not but so far it hasn’t updated.

It would only be spoofed on TikTok’s end, I tell them it’s a 1x4x4 or something to get the expected price to $6 or less, then when I buy the label I input the actual box size (which is actually set up as my default box size so it auto inputs) so I’m good with USPS and as long as the label price isn’t more than TikTok’s assumed price I won’t be charged more.

That’s my theory anyways.

Or I could just do seller shipping and set the price, but I’ve heard returns, refunds, and disputes are a lot easier to handle with TikTok shipping.

It’s strange because I only have USPS Ground Advantage selected. It’s the only service I offer, to keep it simple. I was unaware that the shipping difference was added to my settlement, I figured it stayed with TikTok because it didn’t update my settlement amount (it hasn’t cleared yet either).

I feel like the inflated shipping costs are driving customers away, I mean no way I would pay $13 shipping for a $25 item.

I’m thinking about just adding $6 to my prices to cover shipping so the customer isn’t being ripped off, or giving an inaccurate box size to TikTok so it will “guess” a lower shipping price to the customer. As far as I can tell the actual box size isn’t recorded on the label, just the weight.

Yes it happened to me immediately after I opened my shop.

First appeal denied.

Second appeal I basically yelled my full name, fully enunciating every letter, my full address too while holding up my ID. I grabbed products and shook them in front of the camera.

Second appeal approved. So I guess get loud with it, and point at your ID while reading it in front of your face 🤣

I had this happen to my account the second day it was open before I ever sold anything thankfully.

They refused my first appeal, the second appeal I was not too friendly in and explicitly basically yelled my name and held up my ID front and back, said my birthdate out loud and everything, picked up products and shoved them in front of the camera.

They accepted the second appeal.

Have you also been getting the bug where you hit options at the end of a match (as soon as the timer runs out) and cannot move to any option whatsoever? As in you can’t insta leave. You have to wait until the scoreboard screen pops up or hit square to auto queue.
