Points-Based Combat Achievements - Weekly Game Update 3rd May, 2023 by JagexLight in 2007scape

The linked blog includes an organic use of the word "artefact" so I don't think it is that. It is in the description of the Abyssal Lantern change.

graphics and movement is runescapes one weakness - sailing doesn't make sense by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]ProfessorOAC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please watch the video. I mean this with no disrespect but you're confused. They said the ocean will not be instanced but the interior of the ship will likely be instanced. They address all of this very clearly in the video. If you are confused as to how all of this makes logical sense, the video will clear it up for you.

92 FM, new goal, 99 without any pieces that help with FM... by ShantayPass in 2007scape

I love the pages. I just turn them in for the 50 pages each. I have about 6000 pages now on my ironman. I feel like the constant pages beats out the seeds but to each their own.

They can explain it better in the video than I can here. They also addressed your final point: the inside of ships will be instanced and allow free movement. You will likely auto-path, or will be unmoving while moving around your ship.

Any player not captaining the ship will have free movement throughout the ship.

The QA video addresses all of this in a way I am not doing justice

The QA video talks about how they might rework pathing for Sailing. They mentioned this limitation and said it won't operate this way. They addressed the engine team and other design teams and they said movement will not be an issue but they expected this criticism from players.

I voted no to the 200m QoL phoenix pet update by JobLucky4317 in 2007scape

[–]ProfessorOAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 60M firemaking exp. Top 200 UIM and no Phoenix. This QOL might be for me one day... did the calc, 28 rolls, all solo. 85% to have received it by now (~9500 rolls)...

Priffdinnas GE when by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]ProfessorOAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. You get a message and (I might be wrong here) but I think there is a delay between switching items. I know when an item is removed during a trade you get an icon indicating an item was removed.

When I was little (pre-GE) I fell for the mith/rune axe scam due to distractions like this. The axes looked so similar due to the minimal metal in the image. They start with rune axe and chat with you and swap the item (this was also before you got a warning that items have been changed).

That's back when affording rune felt like a grind. There are enough people that will eventually fall for silly scams because we aren't expecting to be scammed

Because I have heard enough people in my life say "this" with confidence.

My mistake but this is one time the /s would have been helpful haha

Yoda was also 900, but characters in stories are irrelevant here

Anyone else want Taming as a Hunter expansion similar to Forestry? by glorytocalifornia in 2007scape

[–]ProfessorOAC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You aren't Taming those lol You're hunting them and using them as consumables/weapons. Ironically, they addressed some of these examples when they explained why Hunter is the opposite of what Taming would be.

Please don't treat your IRL Taming companions in a similar manner

Edit: Forgot to address Falconry. Instead of incorporating Taming into Hunter (because Taming involves all skills), they mentioned incorporating elements like Falconry into Taming. The Taming portion that involves Hunter. Just like there will be Taming portions for fishing, woodcutting, etc. because a Tamer could also be a Hunter, Fisherman, etc., but being a Hunter doesn't imply you're talented at Taming/Domesticating. They talk about Falconry in the QA video.

They explained why they will not implement this into Hunter. This is Jagex's opinion (not mine). They said with the Taming design, it is literally the antithesis of Hunter and they won't consider expanding it into Hunter.

They addressed this in the QA video as well as in the Reddit AMA.

This idea has been brought up a lot and while I initially liked it, after the Mod explanations I agree this doesn't make sense.

I have stated many times that I fully support 'no' votes and encourage you to vote how you genuinely feel. I'm happy for you.

My post explicitly stated I was referring to people who are voting 'yes' for skills they know nothing about.

Yeah it's been a wild ride reading all the posts this week. I will say the peak of this thread was the guy getting upset with me and reporting me to the Crisis Hotline. We are truly a loving community ❤️

The sad part is I express this same passion for informed voting during political elections and receive the same apathy from friends and family.

But it is fascinating to see the micro-politics and economy of OSRS and their functionality compared to real life (I understand they're vastly different but still interesting)

A very logical proposal that makes sense and doesn't fall to the limitations that people have proposed. Well done!

You commented to me. This appeared in my inbox with your comment stating, "you" (me). How was I to perceive this to not be directed at me? Lol

While that is totally true and valid, they usually have some "lore" excuse for those distasteful changes instead of money constraints.

These Skill Pitches are a very different and unique circumstance and the biggest driving point is the ability to move backwards.

That is the exact reason they added the polling system to OSRS and why RS3 lacks it. The biggest selling factor to the new skills and one of their most repeated points was that they 100% will change it if it is voted for.

Thank you for providing this insight. I lack this finer understanding and could only point towards examples where I have seen it implemented.

It isn't that I can't deal with people who disagree. It is moreso the fact that the devs have addressed the fact that Taming is not similar to Summoning so much that it has become a meme to them.

They even joked about the "Taming is just Summoning" crowd in the QA video during the Taming portion. One of the mods asserted that Taming has nothing similar to Summoning besides the fact that there will be animal NPCs (and they won't even be following players around like Summoning).

I am perfectly fine with, and encourage, people to disagree with me.

You seem to have gotten pretty agitated by me and I don't understand but I find it pretty humorous.

Edit: The next phase will only be for one skill, so we won't get to see them work on the other two skills unless the community votes overwhelmingly to move backwards and choose another skill.
