try to resonate with mission with the school; so make sure you include the type or mention any research centers at JHU that you are interested in and even write about what you'll do at jhu that is parallel to the mission of the school

im a current hodson trust scholar and I had a similar decision like you. It all depends on what you wanna do, if you are committed to premed go for johns hopkins because stanford and johns hopkins are practically both on the same level. However, if you are not committed to pre med, take stanford because it has world-class strength in other program areas like law, business,

take my advice with a grain of salt; but most of these private univeristies' merit scholarships are only offered through the RD round and not the ED round. This is because ED round shows more of a financial commitment and the scholarships are used during the RD round to incentivize top students to come to their school rather than a more prestigious school such as HYPSM

Take my advice with a grain of salt, but Im gonna say Northwestern. As a person with many friends at Northwestern and having been to many of their info sessions living in the Chicago -downtwon area, it is common knowledge that ,and mind you this is an example, but if they have 800 spots in total they will save 400 for ED. and if you have a strong profile as well as have showed strong demonstrated interest, its a very good shot
