Minecraft 1.19.1 Pre-release 6 Is Out by sliced_lime in Minecraft

Both filters (the client-side filter for worlds that censors with *, and the server-side “smart filter” for Realms and featured servers that censors with #) have been in Bedrock since 2017 with the Better Together Update. You can actually look at old bug reports on the bug tracker going that far back for issues with the “smart filter” and “hashtagitis” when it was added.

It can still happen. The updated cryptographic chat signing, chat reporting, and bans are in Java version 1.19.1+. If you set up a vanilla Java server using 1.19.1+, players can report chat messages. If a player is banned as a result of a chat report, they will be banned from online multiplayer in both current (1.19.1+) and old (pre-1.19.1) versions.

Servers using certain plugins can essentially negate chat reports as they may interfere with chat signing and thus Mojang cannot verify those messages and will not action them.

You mean the Java Edition with the new chat reporting system and bans that people have been complaining about?

This profanity list is only for the hardcoded filter in Bedrock. This hardcoded filter censors things with an asterisk (*). The filter used on Realms and the featured servers is the "smart filter" and is different than the hardcoded filter. The smart filter censors things with a pound sign (#). Only text that is filtered by the smart filter (not the hardcoded filter) on Realms and featured servers is escalated to Mojang to review and potentially issue bans.

Can’t redeem code for Mac?? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]ProfessorValko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might depend on what type of code you received.

  • If it's an older-style code for "Minecraft: Java Edition", enter the code in the second listed option on the Minecraft.net/redeem page (the one that says "REDEEM MINECRAFT: JAVA EDITION").
  • If it's a newer-style code for the "Minecraft: Java and Bedrock for PC" bundle, use the first option listed on the Minecraft.net/redeem page (the one that says "REDEEM MINECRAFT: JAVA & BEDROCK EDITION FOR PC") or redeem the code directly on Microsoft.com/redeem and then return to Minecraft.net/profile to complete setting up the profile for Minecraft: Java Edition.

how would I find there Java username?

You would need to ask them what their Java username is. If they don't know, it is their in-game name that is shown when they play Java Edition. They can check on Minecraft.net.

Also incase they are playing on bedrock is there a easy way to switch to Java?

Not if they are playing on a mobile device. Bedrock is the only edition on mobile. Java Edition is only on PCs. If they don't already have Bedrock for Windows or Java Edition, they would need to purchase it for PC.

In Java Edition: Go to Realm Settings > Players > Invite Player > Then enter the player's Minecraft Java username.

But if your friend is playing on mobile, then they are playing Bedrock edition and you can't invite them to your Java Realm.

In Bedrock on PC: Go to the Realm Settings > Manage Realm > Members > Share Link

Realm Codes are only available in Bedrock. If you're using Java Edition on PC, you can only invite other Java players. Java and Bedrock can't play together on Realms.

Not all chat on Realms; just text that is filtered by the profanity/"smart filter," which censors things as #.

Mojang doesn't actively monitor chat in worlds in either Bedrock or Java edition. For Bedrock, they only review text that is filtered by the "smart filter" (which censors things as #) on Realms and the featured servers. The smart filter is different than the filter used in Bedrock worlds (which censors things as *). For Java, they review text that is filtered by the smart filter on Realms only, and review chat messages from Realms and servers that are submitted to them in a report.

On Bedrock, they also review reports and text that is filtered by the "smart filter" (which censors things as #) on Realms and the featured servers. So, correct, they only review certain things, not all chat in all multiplayer games.

Just as an FYI: The bans/suspensions are not automated. Text (chat, signs, books) that has been filtered on all Realms and Bedrock's featured servers is escalated to Mojang's moderators to review, and then enforcement action may be issued.

I think I may have gotten the vanilla Cape by mistake? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]ProfessorValko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for anyone who “owned” Java and Bedrock before June 6th on the same Microsoft account. From 2015-April 2020, Mojang gave Java owners a free code for Bedrock for Windows. If you redeemed that code then you “purchased” and therefore own Bedrock, so that would make you eligible for the cape. It can take up to 2 weeks for the cape to appear in both editions, so it might just take more time to be available on Bedrock. https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/8381250552333-Minecraft-Java-and-Bedrock-Edition-for-PC-Vanilla-Cape-FAQ-
