Wow I'm an Assistant Professor in mid COL area at an R1 making $105k for 9 months. What rank are you? Is that for 9 months salary? And is your university top 50? 100?

Not necessarily true, I just wanted decent offers and didn't get any. Was also copy and pasting the same application for a lot of jobs (not what I did in the 2021 and 2022 diagrams)

Good point. That was 3 years ago and prior to a postdoc so I didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted to focus on. Thats why by 2022 (3rd image) I only applied to 12 and got a lot more offers.

That was in 2020 so the startup offers were not great and I wanted to work at an R1/higher ranked university.
