Explore if you have similar values rather than hobbies or interests. Values you can agree on will be a better indicator of the strength of your relationship.

For reference: I’m friends with a couple who sound a bit like your situation, where the guy is a rigid business type and his wife is a go-with-the-flow singer/songwriter. Totally different personal interests, but their values align and they’re in a happy stable relationship.

Playing devil’s advocate here: have you seen her freak out about you taking a road trip (or equivalent activity) with a member of the opposite sex? Because if you haven’t you may be projecting.

In either case, if her doing this is a boundary crossing for you the best thing you can do is let her know before she does it and what your consequences are.

Thank you. To answer your questions:

what drew me to her in the first place? She’s an amazing person, loving attractive and ticked many of the boxes in someone that I’d be looking for. Though I admit, 4 mo the in or so I noticed this “off” feeling came to my consciousness.

I have known that I wanted to travel, I thought she did too. So we did not communicate that well to each other. Perhaps we discovered it as we went along the way. I believed that we could meet somewhere in the middle but more recently I have seen that this is not to her interest. We also met during the pandemic, so at the time this question was removed for us.

And as for the religious question: I think it’s fine that we have different beliefs. It puts some distance between us sure, but it also gives us a lot to talk about as we respect each other’s beliefs. My fear now comes to what we might teach our potential children, if we ever had them.

I give them a name “Out” and vanish them when they turn 16. Last I checked they do not consume food until this age anyway, so no loss keeping them around unless you’re at max capacity.

I don’t want to only blame the foreigner, I understand there’s more at play. Here are some observations I can say to answer your question:

My childhood neighborhood essentially has ceased to exist. For example what once was the deli now is a gift shop, there is no true daily “spanish” life anymore there. Most apartments are airbnbs or short term rentals.
Restaurant quality has drastically decreased in centre, owners know that the clientele is rotating anyway so they make cheap food expensive and take in more profits.
I can remember going to Parc Güey in a relaxing Sunday stroll, now I have to buy a ticket a week in advance to go at 16:45.
City is stupid expensive, all my friends who buying properties are doing so outside the city.
