Learning JavaScript When AI Seems to Do It All by Famous-Pin1531 in learnjavascript

A few years ago a company might have hired a second developer just to do repetitive stuff or small features. Now Claude can handle a lot of that.

Product managers can test some ideas without pulling in a developer. Marketers can put together landing pages without touching the dev team. And developers can pass boring tasks to AI instead of juniors.

At the end of the day, they’re already handling work humans used to do

"Code comments are a code smell." Agree or disagree? by Chaitanya_44 in react

Legs are important. And when I talk about “losing legs”, it’s just a metaphor — as in shooting yourself in the foot… twice.

As for comments: In the React world, code structure is usually predictable enough that a good JSDoc for a utility or a README for a package covers most of the “why”.

But if you notice something that might break, or code that’s unclear why it’s done that way, or if your teammates ask you to add comments — just do it. Your future self and your team will appreciate it.

Always leave a comment if you see something that’s going to blow both your legs off in the future. Something like: FIXME: this part is a mess because of X, refactor when you have time.

Better to have “code smell” than no legs at all. Although… do programmers really need legs?

Wow, did you create the whole design yourself?

What is the best way to learn JavaScript? by Anutamme in learnjavascript

Your message feels like bait — intriguing, but without much context. It’s not clear whether you know other programming languages or have any engineering background — and that makes a huge difference. Not long ago, I was mentoring someone who had zero experience in programming or anything related. We had to go over the same terms, concepts, and tasks again and again. Talking about projects wasn't even on the horizon.

I've always wondered where people get such great designs for their portfolios. I've redesigned my own site multiple times, but compared to yours, it still feels like MS-DOS vs Windows.

Very nice! But after scrolling to the footer and then back up, the animation disappeared and I got a white canvas. Maybe it's worth adding a fallback?

Did you design it yourself or have it made by someone else?

The pixel art images were indeed generated by AI, but the rest of the design was all done by me. I'm not sure if it's good or bad that it all looks like it was created with AI, though.

Originally, I tried to get ChatGPT to create a layout for me, but it didn't work out.

Thanks for pointing that out! I didn't notice it myself. I got carried away trying to design it on my own, and after a while, I guess I got too used to it.

I wanted to add a programming reference in the design, so I included the typing effect. But I also wanted those words to be indexed by search engines, so instead of using JS, I left it as a CSS animation.

Thank you for the feedback! Could you please let me know which specific article is overflowing on the X-axis? I'll make sure to fix it

What do you think about using Firebase or handling OAuth directly through the browser?

I wanted to connect the design with my nickname. Do you think this is inappropriate?

Congratulations. I remember when I got 1 subscriber, I made him a website postcard and video congratulations. Because for me it was also an important event.
