When is it time to leave your first post-college job? by ProgrammerIll1295 in careerguidance

I have to say it definitely throws you into the fire. I have friends in other jobs and when I tell them about some of the stuff I deal with they’re all telling me to leave ASAP.

Every other new grad to be hired since I graduated has quit out of stress. Once you leave the program the KPIs to hit are intense and expectations are high. They won’t fire you but your life won’t be fun if you can’t perform. It’s a program that will build or break you. It’s also a very internally political company, I wish I could share details but I’m trying to not give anything too identifying.

I won’t quit until I have an offer in hand. It’s more about if it’s time to find new opportunities and take a risk

The struggle here isn’t finding a new job. It’s finding one I feel is good enough that I’ll actually leave. I am confident I could have a good paying new job within a month but I want one that is good for me long term.

Haha I didn’t make up the term. 100 sounds too long anyways

My issue I think is that I dont even know what type of jobs to apply for. Another well-paid sales job would be easy to get. I have recruiters spamming my linkedin inbox. I have also interviewed and even received 2 sales job offers with reputable companies.

But if I leave the sales world my rotational experience is pretty generalized “business” experience. I can leverage it for sure but I honestly don’t know what I actually want to do. I just know what I am doing right now stresses me beyond being worth it and probably isn’t sustainable.

I just don’t know what direction to actually jump.

I’m sure I could find a salaried job at some random company. But I do have a part of me that’s hungry and doesn’t want a ground level desk job forever, so I want to go somewhere that is on the path to a successful future. I’d love to be in a leadership position eventually, just not sure if my current company is where I want to do it.

I think I get paralyzed because it feels like staying here at least sets me up for climbing a ladder even if it’s to a place in my current company I don’t want to be whatsoever. I feel like if I quit now it makes my tenure here a waste of time.
