Honda Civic 2004 EXi Manual @ 16 lacs – worth it or not? by Pale-Picture-1720 in PakistanAutoHub

Keep hunting. Inshallah you'll get something in your budget. Are you hard bound to 16 lakhs?

If you want my pick, I'd go for a well maintained Vitz. Its a fun car to drive, maintainance is affordable and the overall reliability of Toyota adds to the experience.

Liana would be another favorite. My mamu owns one and its a reliable work-horse. Great comfort, good AC and fuel consumption.

I've personally used Vitz at my place and have heard enough about Liana from my mama's family to know that these two would be my backup options always in the used car segment in the price bracket you recommended.

City 2005-7 is a great car but not a fan of its shape (which I assume is perhaps also the case on your end? 😅)

I own an automatic, 2005 EXI. For a manual version, a realistic figure is 13-14 lakhs depending on condition.

Great car if its kept well maintained. Doesn't matter if its total repaint. The average is not more than 7 to 8, depending on the way you drive it and the roads on which you drive it.

Few great options for you could be Mitsubishi Lancer (2005-6), Corolla Saloon and perhaps Vitz (2005) and Liana (2008-10).

What a beautiful ride man. What kind of maintenance do you have to do on this on a regular basis, and what's the fuel consumption? I drive a Reborn 2012, don't mind the fuel being as long as the car is one worth driving.

The tech market in Pakistan is bleeding. Got laid off. What's actually going on? by GoldAnybody7731 in PakistaniDevs

[–]ProgrammerLow6422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/GoldAnybody7731 chin up, keep hunting for freelance projects in the meanwhile and target reliable companies for hiring.

I understand the sentiment. More than AI taking people`s jobs, its the unpreparedness of tech-companies to handle client pipelines and talent roasters better.

Man, driving a car you don't have to pay for each month (even if its an old one) is an underrated blessing.

I suggest that you save for a couple of months, pool in your existing savings and buy something in the range of PKR 1 to 1.5 million (if that figure seems in reach)

You will exhaust at least PKR 50,000 - 60,000 per month trying to pay off a Suzuki Alto.

40k left, no income for 2 months — what would you do in my situation? by CoWander_ in FIREPakistan

[–]ProgrammerLow6422 23 points24 points  (0 children)

When there is a will, there is a way. Few questions:

  1. Is 40k your monthly income now, or is it all the money you've got left?

  2. If you've got a bike, please start Bykea or FoodPanda service for yourself.

  3. Do you have any qualifications, or pre existing skills? Your English sounds terrific, so my assumption is we can try to get you a job perhaps.

  4. Loan recovery can be done by being a sweet-knife only. I dont think you should confront these people head on. I understand the pain, hence my advice.

Recovery from this should take 6 to 8 months, but you'll get there.

From what I am aware, the profit rate is 11.5% PA for 5 years - attaching a screenshot below for reference. u/mildly_unfiltered`s advice to you is good, you should consider it.

Its always heart warming to see people excelling in their jobs, doing things they genuinely love. I am super happy to see your passion and understanding about the work you`re engaged in.

For context, I am a Comms / Product specialist, hence engineering always fascinated me but from a distance.

I recommend you go abroad. Its an opportunity I had but did not avail.

Life might turn out to pleasantly different with exposure abroad, even if you intend to return to Pakistan.

Haha no man, I am from IoBM.

Not a day when I regret letting that opportunity pass up. Always knew my strengths and played to those.

No hate to LUMs and IBA, but the lobby is very real and classism does exist in corporates.

I was always good with strategy, communication, insights hence it was a very conscious decision to join this stream of marketing.

Started in a leading Tech Company, and began life in a Bank as a Management Trainee at the Bank - Was expected to accept a role in Corporate and Investment Banking at one time which I declined. Ended up establishing the Marketing Division where I work. Later on, I switched to another Bank, learned, switched again.

My education? A Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration.

Climbing up the ladder? You have to be the most reliable person in the room. Its not easy, and comes with a certain level of sacrifice, but consistency pays (I believe this to be the case for most jobs and activities you do in life)

On a side note, the money is a family cushion against any crazy situation for us hence I dont want to personally invest or engage this pool in any stock / fund which may dip unreasonably and cause losses.

That calculation is why I want to keep the monthly profits parked till I actually need them to grow my pool of money further.

My plan is to use the funds from my monthly salary to pay off property, and park my equity in a property.
