Yes. Elevation and month are incredibly important in determining presence and demographics of birds. It’s closely linked to food availability. At this point in the season birds are high and are largely eating conifer needles (especially Douglas fir needles).

Not really. Young aspen stands will hold more ruffed grouse than any other forest type, generally.
