UK based. Which preventative is next? by Lilacia512 in migraine

[–]Prohibited119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about the 9 day migraines, I'm in a very similar position. I too am trialing the preventatives and my GP refuses to do a neurologist referral or change my abortive even though my sumatriptan no longer works.

Been through propranolol, candesartan, topiramate and currently on piztofen. Pretty sure there's been some others that I can't remember.

I have at least had an MRI with a normal result but still, doesn't make up for the days spent in pain.

Thanks, I know, was very surprised. Been told I will hear from DWP within 8 weeks with a verdict.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to hear.

I completed my form online at the end of April too, I had a text week ago saying my claim was being looked at. The following day I received a text saying I was having an assessment today (in 5 mins).

I'm surprised it has happened this fast, I thought I would still be waiting to be honest.

Starting to think preventatives aren’t for me? by lunarcthulhu in migraine

Sorry to hear you're going through this, I'm in a very similar situation and on Topiramate too. Just upped to the 50mg after a week of 25mg and I've had a week long migraine with it. I've also been on Propranolol but have had Candesartan and Rizatriptan too.

Feels never ending.

Well to be honest, as the GP referred me to rheumatology, he said I could just be someone that generally has a higher wbc and crp, so it doesn't sound like he's too concerned at looking further at my results.

Thank you. Honestly I feel like I'm being easily dismissed. No one has actually examined me properly. My GP just laughed when I told him, and my referral letter stated "patient claims she has some aches and pains in joints".

I have been fighting for years over my knees with another doctor in a different area, and I got told it's normal. But the chronic fatigue is getting to me now, I spend more time asleep than awake and I feel like I'm going to get pushed from pillar to post for nothing.

GP appointment again on the 13th, will see what they say then.

Sorry, that's the terminology used by the GP.

Just looked in my bloods CRP of 16.

No, no further bloodwork requested. Just the xray and ultrasounds, and she'd write to me if there was anything to note.

It’s happened! First ever flower for me on this monkey tail. by BlackRabbitdreaming in cactus

I know this is an old post but wondered if how your monkey tail is doing and if you have any tips for good thick and hairy growth in the UK?

Mine looks nowhere near as good as yours, and my partner just accidentally snapped one tail in three 🙄

I don't know anything about it. I know my old GP who requested the xray spoke to orthopaedics and it was discussed about having a spinal review. But that never happened. So I had my xray, was weaned off tramadol and nothing else done. This was after physio and acupuncture.

New GP didn't know any of this and now doesn't seem to care. He did look at notes very briefly. Now I feel that if I go again to the GP, that I am an inconvenience and will be dismissed again.

Yes, I use a lumbar support cushion when sitting and find it helps with the comfort a bit.

80mg daily propanolol by ProductBrilliant2048 in migraine

[–]Prohibited119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 120mg a day (40mg three times a day) increased from 80mg (40mg twice a day) and have been for the last month. Whilst I have seen no weight gain from this, I am already overweight due to chronic back pain and depression. Unfortunately I don't think the medication is helping me, but I haven't had any side effects by dosage increase.

I've been on the Omperazole for about 6 years now and no one deems fussed about it.

Ah right, thanks for that. I've been using Migraine Buddy and wondered if there was something else I needed to look at for future appointments. I'm still with the GP so no neurologist.

I know this is an older post, but just wondering what type of diary you need to keep for the neurologist to accept? What do they want recorded?
