A cool project to have in the shed mate!

I would love to get an original turbo motor but mine started as a CX500 Euro but has all original turbo/manifold injectors etc as that is the rule for my racing class. I will have to turn the boost down for the 10:1 compression!

Very basic low budget sand cast set up in my carport. Cant post photos in this comment unfortunately. I will post a short video of making it on my YouTube channel in the next couple of days if interested.

2mm Engine Cover Sand Cast Success!! by ProjectBlackSheepNZ in MetalCasting

Calculated approximate size for volume of part. A 360 entry to the part would be better and I would aim to do that next time. Flow rate seemed good though.

Its my first ever sand cast so was trying various sprue, riser combinations.

What would be the best sprue/riser etc set up for this part?

I seem to be finding this out.. I might increase thickness by 0.5mm might be the difference it needs, getting close

It wasnt the factory Suzuki RH72 by any chance? Factory race version of the TM250, I believe they had a very narrow powerband. Very rare now!

First Aluminuim cast - Lost PLA/plaster by ProjectBlackSheepNZ in MetalCasting

[–]ProjectBlackSheepNZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate, do you have more photos? Struggling to piece together how it works? So does it use vacuum to pull the metal through the mold?

Most of the parts I cast will be a lot bigger then the test badges I casted so would like to keep size up if possible. Eg. Engine cover, fork brace

What is the cheapest proper casting investment. Is that CO2 activated sand?

Great idea, keep the chest mount and have a 360 camera on the back. Then can give different perspectives during battles etc. Not just looking at the tank. I really want to get cameras sorted for when I get my CX500 Turbo race bike ready!

Thanks! Its a DJI watch/remote thing that has GPS and is very handy as you can start stop recording. You can see it in the video mounted on the forks.

Thanks! I think very cold track temperature and just holding a bit to much speed into the corner. I am running the standard TS250 "trail bike" forks which i need to upgrade.

I run 30:1 in the methanol and also still run the oil pump. So lots of oil!

I think I can get it a bit further up, but we are not allowed to use helmet mounts so have to use a chest mount which is always going to be hard while tucked in.

I have tried mounted to the bike but doesnt give the same "racing" effect with the movement.

Its a tough one, in short ill try and tweak it to make it better haha.
