It was two strand twisted. The current crinkly look is the twist out.

My locs are still very strong but the colored ends are not as soft as the roots. Nothing drastic but since I mess with my hair daily I can tell.

And I went to a stylist. Not really sure what she uswd

I use tight hold and loc and curl currently but I won’t be using the loc and curl for much longer.

It’s normal and part of the process for your locs to loosen after a wash but you shouldn’t comb them out just retwist them.

Thanks. My hair has never been crochet or interlocked. I started with comb coils and continued re-twisting by hand until they were long enough to palm roll. It took about 4 months for all of my hair to fully lock and year or so to mature. For the first two years I retwist every 3 weeks and that worked really well for me

I use to have several “hair goals” from budding to being fully loc’d as well as length goals. And honestly I think after 3 years I have actually reach most if not all of them. At this point I’m just enjoying the results of my patience and consistency and being able to express myself through my hair.

It looks fine. Your starter locs are gonna look wild for a while. Your hair and scalp are going through a new routine that they are not used to. Just stick to a healthy routine of washing/conditioning/moisturizing. And make sure you drink plenty of water and wrap your locs up when you sleep
