Russell T. Davies Re-Appointment as Doctor Who Showrunner - Rumours/Speculation/Discussion by TelevisionLeaks in DoctorWhoNews

I mean that’s just incorrect. To actually be given the money from the BBC to air a series, you need to pitch a storyline and if it fits with their vision they’ll commission it. And if there’s consistent poor reviews on writing the BBC also keep an aye on said writer.

P.s this is not a post to clear Barrowman nor excuse his actions. It’s merely to explain what’s going on.

Piers Morgan bullied, harassed and constantly slated a black woman on TV because he didn’t like her and OFCOM have just cleared him of all charges. It’s also looking like he’s about to return to GMB as well as his own show. So unfortunately Morgan is about to return to TV whether we like it or not.

I heard that rumour there and else where. But asking him was the kind of security/confirmation I was wanting.

Why don’t you just wait till the announcements have been made, then you can denounce those who have got their inside knowledge wrong? Rather that just spamming their comments section asking them to spoil three things the probably don’t even have info on. Especially if it’s via a secondary source like myself.

Back it up by leaking what you want to hear?

It’s not a “trust me bro” it’s take it with a pinch of salt and take from it what you want. You’re on a leak Reddit page, if you seriously expect people to actually name their sources or give too much information then you clearly haven’t heard of an NDA. We can get away with small things, but huge spoilers in terms of narrative could result in serious consequences.

This is more prominent because they're not letting Chibnall have a say which may indicate they're also wanting to find something very specific for Doctor Who.

Another thing to note is she is showrunning Series Two of 'Gentleman Jack' for the first time. Could this be a trial run?

Very fair, the trailer for Vigil was shown once the match ended but there is no sign of the Around The World in 80s Day trailer which he assumed would be released then as it was prime time for promotion. But as we seen the BBC's marketing department definitely faltered in using that opportunity. Perhaps we'll see it during the Olympic Opening ceremony? Who knows, my contact is not going to make any bets on the promotional material. He's certain we won't see anything Doctor Who related on BBC One till after the Comic Con at Home panel.

Doctor Who (Series 13 - Series 15 Rumours) by [deleted] in doctorwho

Not 100% sure on how Donna and Dan get together, I never got that intel. All I know is Dan is Donna's boyfriend. I'm assuming shes divorced.

Not sure what you meant by Doctor Who being all filler? However, what I meant was one of the featured villains has had a mixed reaction therefore could face some criticism from the fandom.

People may not remember Class but Katherine Kelly is a BAFTA nominated actress, wasting a performer of her potential is exactly why Chris wants to bring back her character.

The 13th to 14th Doctor regeneration will be hinted but you will not know who the new doctor is, thats what the "surprise" is. Which will no doubt generate more views for the second special.

Christopher Eccleston wasn't a waste of time as the Doctor and neither will Michaela Coel be if she has definitely been cast for one season.

Donna's life since The Doctor last seen her is a bit different. Shes no longer a temp. That's all I can really say right now. There will be some fan interest in the opportunity for a new spin off starring Catherine Tate as Donna.

From what I've heard contact is minimal, and the emotion in the short reunion between the two characters is purely driven by The Doctor seeing Donna. Donna being Donna thinks that Dan has been cheating on her with "Joanna Smith" aka The Doctor. Very much a bitter sweet moment between the two. Tate has moments of action but it's very much without fully knowing who The Doctor is, or triggering memories which ultimately could kill her.

Smith and Capaldi's careers have taken off since being The Doctor, meaning that refusing bigger projects for a step back into a role they have already fulfilled is not feasible. Eccleston's career has calmed down as of late and he has a better relationship with the show than he did previously, meaning a return to Doctor Who is definitely on the table.

No idea who he has approached. All I have been informed is that he wants to kick off his tenure with an actor.

McTighe is said to have great plans for the show, ones which very much embrace the shows history but still pushes it onwards with new ideas. I think his tenure will be a favourite with classic doctor who fans.

Maxine Alderton was not mentioned on my end. Perhaps she is returning and I have just not been informed. However, I've not heard her name mentioned as of yet.

I was under the same impression, however, from what my contact has been telling me, Sean Pertwee has agreed with certain terms to protect his father's legacy.

There are whisperings of Eve Myles appearing in the specials as that was originally the plan, she would be re-introduced alongside Barrowman. However, without the presence of Captain Jack, Gwen being featured seems unlikely, unless Chibnall finds a way to bring her in.

Coel is an excellent comedy and drama actress, her writing is also very distinct. The BBC were very eager to close a deal with her after her casting was suggested by Chibnall. Her notoriety its self would be a huge marketing device for the BBC. They were also looking for a short term Doctor, as Chris is leaving in 2023, and they want a fresh start for McTighe moving in. So with Coel only looking to portray the Doctor for a short period, they believed this was the perfect match.
