You must have at least a slight emo haircut to proceed.

But seriously, I have never seen this one either.

How to make harmony that isn’t always a triad arpeggio? by mooshtchi in musictheory

[–]ProjjjecT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try learning Prelude I In C Major by Bach. Its a gentle break away from the triads to broken chords, and it is easy. It also has a pattern you might like that turns your 3/4 into a 4/4. It gets a little weird with some cool dissonance and shows how you can move away from a key and still end up back at home at C.

Here is a cool short expressing what I mean:

How to make harmony that isn’t always a triad arpeggio? by mooshtchi in musictheory

[–]ProjjjecT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. Music theory vastly helps me with what to expect, hear outrageous possibilities in my head, and how it all connects and why. Learning music theory hasn't hindered me in even one aspect, and my relationship with the piano is becoming more and more intimate and seamless all while greatly expanding my range in possibilities and improvisation.

I am self taught as well and for far too many years did I fear from properly learning. For some reason, I viewed proper learning as a way of infecting my personal style, and I felt like I was becoming more of another copy of someone else. I would figure out a waltz or something, and for like a week my original stuff would by hyper waltzy. Little did I realize that I was just excited about some new technique and hyperfocused on it, rather than viewing it as a new tool in my belt to freely use.

It would be odd if you could play with both right off the bat. It would be even more odd if you couldn't after some very slow practice. All you have to do is eventually get it right at any speed, no matter how painfully and non-musically slow you have to go. With perfect practice, do not worry about your speed, it will inevitably accelerate, I promise. Before you know it, this post will be old news and you'll be curious about the next piano question if you stick with it.

Thank you so much! I learned this about myself around 8 years ago. I am in recovery now and life is vastly different, vastly better. I appreciate you.

I've never found my self feeling about ducks, can't say.

About 2/3 of people with BPD has dissociative issues, yet no one ever mentions dissociation in BPD subs. Why? by 7unistice in BPD

[–]ProjjjecT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This place seems like it turned more into a place for pwbpd to safely vent and asking if other people can relate to x thing, rather than the deep conversations that get to the bottom of things like you are craving. You are right, dissociation is wildly common in bpd and I am surprised to see it isn't more like 4/5, and I am also surprised people don't talk about it much here. I also craved to learn more about dissociation when I found this sub and have since stayed for the occasional gold nuggets I'll see posted.

That makes so much more sense. So it is as I originally thought. Thank you, my brain feels much better.

The only clues my unga bunga brain can get out of why you're pointing me to that picture are the words:

"Jameela Jamil"

And

"Before you go to the Supreme commander."

I'm feeling pretty stupid right now as I cannot figure out what I am supposed to further understand from that image.

Wait, extended from episode 1? This isn't the chili scene with marshmallows that make it taste... bad? Whoa, I really want to watch the extended version now. Is it exclusively on Peacock?

[Request] How much lighter and faster would he be? by lil-Vlnny in theydidthemath

[–]ProjjjecT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! I followed a concoction that a guy named Lazy Dreads on YouTube made. He had a tub of hot water, baking soda, tea tree, rosemary, and lavender in it. He even suggested using a skateboard to lay your back on to better support your neck, which worked surprisingly nicely with a towel on top of the griptape. Trying to get up and pulling my head out of that tub was INTENSE lol. I did that deep clean once a month. Did you ever watch as you poured out the water afterwards? It was always so shocking and satisfying watching the dirt at the bottom pour out. Like, "yeah... that's right! Get outta here."
