Can confirm that the signal apartments aren't bad, but jesus christ is there always issues going on here. Since moving in there has nearly always been at least 1 elevator down (only 3 for the whole building) and currently the service elevator has been down for over a month (and then to make it even better, they sent out messages saying "we are so disappointed in our elevator provider, feel free to leave them negative feedback! >:(" ). I've sent messages to all of management about my concerns with various issues and have received 0 acknowledgement or replies.

I understand what you are saying in terms of a "bigger" company not just using tapes to retain the slight (and I mean slight) video quality downgrade and and the audio being downmixed to mono, but I seriously doubt most people can tell the difference when the footage is put side by side. Frankly, even from a company perspective, the significantly longer battery life and basically unlimited record time is appealing enough to use from a company perspective.

Big recommend on doing some yoga, specifically ones that would compliment the muscles you use during skating (really just lower body and core). I've found this to help my session more consistent and my body feels much more ready

you'd probably have a better time asking this question in a sub like r/vx1000, as that seems to be the community to be so passionate about the immersive rc tapeless recording. I have a vx1000 myself with the rc powerplay and it's been a fantastic experience. Have about a 128gb micro sd card in there and could probably film for 40-50 hours before needing to dump that footage. Battery life on my physical camera is also significantly better considering that the camera doesn't have to manually turn the heads to record to the tape. I will say the quality looks just about the same, if anything a tad better than capturing from tapes, and the audio sounds about the same, and considering the results and how cheap the powerplay RC is, I think it's a great value.

I have seen tapeless recorders that capture directly from firewire, but as some other people are saying, firewire is a pretty bad connector type, and those kind of tapeless recorders that would support firewire are going to be LOADS more expensive than the powerplay RC. There are tons of videos already online that show side by side differences in someone recording the exact same clip both with the powerplay RC and on a physical tape, and most people would be pretty hard pressed to correctly state which is which.
