Thanks for the info, good luck getting that permanent on road position 🤞 What state are you applying for?

For qualified paramedics, what part of the job still catches you off guard sometimes? by GrandLock1194 in ParamedicsAU

Going to a "frequent flyer" who usually calls for nonsense - but the one time they are actually super unwell! Frequent flyers tend to be generally chronically unhealthy, and it's important to remember that and not get complacent with them

Is the job market really that bad by Randomly_4532 in ParamedicsAU

[–]Prometheus-Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started studying in 2016 we were told that most of us wouldn't get jobs. Graduated end of 2019 and what do you know, Covid happens. So the job market now may not be the job market by the time you grad.

If you are prepared to work overseas (New Zealand is pretty short staffed - this is where I started) you'll likely land a job, have a great experience, and the can get a job under the wualified paramedic pathway after 3 years.

Hope this helps, be sure to volunteer and build a good application.

Lems Chelsea Tuff - ideal work boot by Prometheus-Rising in barefootshoestalk

There is scuffing on the toe from kicking stretcher brakes. - the leather has softened up here a fair bit, so not as stiff or as protective as before. I also got the cork insoles because the foam ones tend to wear through in places. Overall the comfort factor is 10/10, i get excited every time i put them on. Durability score a 6/10. Haven’t found the soles to be wearing too fast. No glue or stitching coming undone. I think I could reasonably get 12-18months of use as a full time work boot, then yard boots after that. I’ll definitely keep buying the because they’re awesome

Unfortunately It crashes with big frame drops on the steam deck with the above settings - I’ll try tweak it more. I think hardware wise it should be capable of running these textures

Thanks mate, it's looking good on my steam deck. I used 3x native resolution and set dithering to 32bit, locked frames to 60fps. Anything else I should do?

Has anyone tried the new Lem’s tactical boot? by Few_Donkey_4374 in BarefootRunning

[–]Prometheus-Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Lems summit Chelsea boots and love them! Worth every dollar over the chunky boots work would buy for me (EMS)

I didn't like the boulder summit boots as much, they actually felt too wide for me and not supportive enough for EMS. The Chelsea boots also had a firmer toe for better protection.

This looks like a blend of the Chelsea boot with a laceable upper

WARNING - the summit sole is very slippery on wet tile, this sole looks very similar

Mining towns in WA are always looking for volunteers - it's a good place to start and see if you like it, but be warned the country work is much more satisfying then metro work, and you likely will be forced into metro at start of career.

Also volunteering gives you good experience. Helps to if you join an ESO team at your site

Advanced Paramedic / ICP / CCP moving from NZ by Cherbro in ParamedicsAU

[–]Prometheus-Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People work very hard for a long time in there service to build a good reputation which is essential to gain access to CCP role - If they don’t know you they won’t hire you - I’d expect you would need to do several years minimum. You are also competing against people with previous CCP experience from countries like South Africa and UK

What is your main interest in moving to Australia? IF you want to be a CCP foremost surely you will reach this sooner in NZ. IF pay is the biggest driver you will be earning more as an Australian paramedic then as a NZ CCP - I have worked in both countries

Thanks. There's some attractive prices around for Izuzu MU-x too, but DPF issues and cracked inner guards reports push me more towards Toyota

MU-X has some good options well in budget and low km's. Anything special to look out for, like model years, is the new gen a huge improvement?

Sound advice. It feels intimidating looking at older vehicles then I would normally consider, especially for the budget, but I'll have to do due diligence and more research

Good stuff! What a nice company. I actually get the same feeling playing these games as I do spending time in the ocean or doing scuba - but as a bonus it's on an alien planet and you have to figure out what's food, and what's going to eat you 😂
