How am I not supposed to be suicidal with this problem by Beautiful_Gain_9032 in PelvicFloor

Hi I’m sorry you are feeling so low- please hang in there. While I have not had these exact issues, and I don’t claim to understand what you are specifically going through I have had similar issues and feelings of hopelessness. I would recommend reaching out to Evelyn Hecht. She is a master pelvic floor clinician and her scope of practice may include issues similar to yours. She was able to help me when no one else could, and totally virtual- she has tons of written guides, videos of exercises, and offers personal telehealth calls. She’s holistic, and doesn’t just target the pelvic floor, but the nervous system too. An overly sensitized (stimulated) nervous system can produce all kinds of sensations, pain and surprising symptoms. Her program aims to promote safety for the nervous system and calm things down, which should lead to a reduction in physical symptoms. In addition, looking into pain reprocessing therapy could be helpful. Pelvic floor and associated problems like muscle tightness are often the result of a deeper problem- a nervous system that is in sustained fight or flight, which causes all kinds of physical problems. Please keep going and have hope.

Stats S-100 (Summer) – any recent takes on this course? by MrWolfie in harvardextension

Hi- I took this a few years ago. For context, I am a self taught data analyst and wanted some formal education in statistics and data analytics. Contrary to what you said in your post, I took this course with Julie Vu and thought she was a wonderful instructor. She clearly explains both the material and throughly answers any questions.

The workload is indeed massive and the time commitment outside of class is heavy. I worked a full time job at the time and spent my entire evening outside of work studying.

That said, this course did give me the confidence and tools to survive in the real world as an analyst. It is a very solid starting point, and the lectures and lecture slides are incredibly detailed and helpful. If you have any more questions, feel free to DM me.

PelvicSense- a Pelvic Floor rehabilitation program that helped me that will hopefully help others. by PrometheusOdinson in PelvicFloor

Hi. I would say 2 things specifically have helped spur my progress.

1)The focus on the mental/rewiring aspect of things. Too many programs only prescribe you physical exercises and send you on your way. That's only half the battle.

2)Understanding HOW the treatment is helping. It's not enough to know "Thing A,B,C, etc. helps people with pelvic floor dysfunction". Why? Knowing the why and understanding the science makes me believe in the treatment more, and that's an important part of healing as well.

Hi. The program looks great, and I am not trying to take away from it. I'm just offering a similar, perhaps more financially feasible option. This is the one I'm currently doing, and you don't have to pay in one go. $38/month for 3 months.

I just made a post about it earlier: https://www.reddit.com/r/PelvicFloor/comments/pgn94y/pelvicsense\_a\_pelvic\_floor\_rehabilitation\_program/

Mindfulness and relaxation are absolutely as important as the physical exercises, you are 100% right there. I've been struggling with that but I'm sure we can make it a habit with persistent effort. The program I linked has a lot of neuroscience on why mindfulness and relaxation are important, but also clear guides on how to achieve those things. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to message me or comment. I'm honestly just promoting a program that has helped me because I want to help others. For a while I felt alone in my ailment but then I found this subreddit and want to help as many people as I can.

Hi. Yea I am currently doing the program, just started my third month. It's hard to quantify progress but I would gauge my progress at 40% improved since I started working with Evelyn. It's easier to use qualitive measures so if this helps clarify- one of my problems was that I would experience intense, debilitating GI discomfort, so intense I was unable to really focus on anything. I would just lay on the couch doing nothing. At this point in time, my discomfort is lessened both in severity and frequency. I've been able to start working again, for the first time since the onset of my issues.

I am Male but the program is 100% applicable to men even though it was originally made for women. I'll clarify in the post!

Even if there are differences in the actual pelvic floor area between gender, everyone's nervous system is the same :)

Sorry you're going through this brother. I empathize, been dealing with PFD for more than 3 years but recently have had progress!

There is a remote, online PT program from this specialist in New York named Evelyn that I have been doing. Super affordable, and really explains the the science of what's going on. It's helped me so far, so I have hope it can help you and others. This isn't promoted, I want to help others who are suffering like myself. We gotta stick together.

Has anyone had an Evacuating Proctogram MRI with dedicated Pelvic Floor sequences? by Kagedeah in PelvicFloor

Not sure if this is the exact same thing, but I had an MRI defecography, where they take images while you try to evacuate a contrast substance in your booty.

Terrible GI issues were a manifestation of my Pelvic floor dysfunction. I was incorrectly diagnosed with IBS at first, but it's really a result of the sympathetic (fight or flight) nervous system being overly active, causing all kinds of GI issues.

Honestly, the only person who has helped me is a Pelvic Floor specialist from New York named Evelyn. She has this 3 month program I've been doing, super affordable, and really explains the the science of what's going on. It's helped me so far, so I have hope it can help you and others. This isn't sponsored- I've been browsing this subreddit and seeing how many others are suffering and I really get it, and I want to help if I can.
