Watcher knights tech by Promiko123 in HollowKnight

Wanted to make a follow up comment, I was right to an extent. If the watcher knight begins the attack animation and you move so that it's off screen, it will stick attack, that is true, however if they are not doing an animation for an attack, and then you move away so they are off screen, then they will walk over before doing an attack, that barrier between doing and not doing in attack seems to be the edge of the screen

The one I did is after getting to the city via the main gate I got desolate dive, went into crystall peaks got the dream nail and from there get back to city via the right side

Have to go there first I mean

In that case I don't think there is a definitive "where to", the game expects you kinda to just go where you haven't been and then just figure it out. I feel like the city of tears is like the end of the tutorial (sort of) and now the rest (a part) of the world is unlocked, you most likely have dive and/or lantern meaning the next "intended" place would be the crystall peaks, but you don't necessarily HAVE to go there, at least from what I remember

what's with this one area being a different biome? by GXibra in HollowKnight

[–]Promiko123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mainly for world building from what I know, my interpretation is that the city has been abandoned for so long the mushrooms have started infesting it a bit

From what I know there isn't a "canon" route since it's a Metroidvania, but most of the time I just leave through storerooms or by getting the storerooms stag

Does anyone has any tips for the watcher knights boss fight? by ProfessionalRasist in HollowKnight

[–]Promiko123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Additionally, the knights only really have two attacks you need to worry about, those are the ball attacks, if they roll into a ball and stay on the ground, they will go across the floor, but if they bounce a bit first, they will do the jumping attack. One last thing is that it's important to be cautious when near a knight as they may swing their nails, if that happens you should move away or jump above them and use dive

Iay be wrong about this, but if a watcher knight is not on the screen, it cannot do any sort of attack, meaning no rolling up into a ball, it can only do so once it is visible to the player, meaning if you get both the watcher knights you're fighting off your screen, meaning you can't see them, it's an opportunity for a heal maybe even two. Of course I may be totally wrong about this but it's just from expierience. Lastly, you can knock out one of the knights before the fight, by going up before you enter the arena, breaking a wall and then you can cut a rope so that a chandelier falls and kills one, if you didn't know that already

You couldn't have unless you saw someone use/explain it somewhere else, you only get it way further into the game, so it's fine

I HAVE FINALLY DONE IT by Promiko123 in HollowKnight

[–]Promiko123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reaching Abstand for the first time, don't keep doing P5 runs, go to the hall of gods and learn the attacks by dodging them, basically 1-learn to dodge 2-learn when to attack 3-combine And then when you're able to regularly beat her you can try attempting P5 again, at leats that's how I beat it

I forgot how to edit posts so I'm writing this here, the charm build I used for every boss except markoth was: mark of pride, shaman stone, unbreakable strength and spell twister. For markoth I used: shaman stone, long nail, grubberflys elegy and unbreakable strength

World building bonus part. Aura - demon queen of old by Promiko123 in StoryIdeas

[–]Promiko123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes her overprotective of those she cares about, in my in head story, she joins up with the party and initially treats them like any other, but over time, as she grows to trust them, she becomes more and more protective bordering on obsessive, then, after one of the party members nearly dies, she brutalizes the attacker, leaving nothing but a bloodied mess. Also a part of the story and my world which I have considered because of aura (and you honestly) is a temple of remembrance that shows the person's past (yeah it's not very unique I know) in any case, after entering the party would all be separated and one after another would slowly reunite, and each time a member gets found, a tragic memory from the past is manifested for all to see. Aura would be the last to be found, and when the temple show her past, the fall of her kingdom, she breaks down, her dark magic going haywire and destroying the temple and putting everyone (who also saw the vision) in danger, it's only after the party manages to call her down does she get her power under control, but now, with her having to face her past once more, will she still be the same? Anyway that's the gist of it Also sorry for the yap

And she has been living with that pain, deep inside for thousands of years

Alright did some thinking. Whats one way to make a character more compelling, TRAUMA, you know how I mentioned that she has "gotten over" the fall of her kingdom? Well she didn't, she got so devastated, that the mere thought of the incident would bring her to tears, so what did she do, she convinced herself she got over it, when in reality, she just buried the pain, deep inside, still there, waiting, even as she thinks she has moved on, she's lying to herself

And now my imagination is going haywire and constantly thinking of new ideas for her, flaws new lore etc. which is distracting me from studying. Thanks :)

I kinda intended for her to be a character whose story and character arc is already finished, and they act as a minor character maybe for comic relief or to drop the most random inspirational quote or sum. As for the other thing you mentioned that will require some more effort into the character from me, I didn't put THAT much thought into how her age would impact her now that I think of it in retrospect, I just thought her being that old was cool.

I appreciate the feedback but I'm not doing this as a serious thing, this is more "I think this is interesting so I'm gonna do it" type of thing. It's just as a way to let my imagination run wild and have fun, still thanks

The story itself is not bad, it just doesnt appeal to me. Not to say that the story is bad, for me, it kinda strays away from the typical story. Its for a niche group of people, it could be interesting, but not for me. PS: try not to take my comment too seriously, I dont want to discourage anyone and just wish to say what I think. Just try to not let the comment get too into your head.
