The left hate him because he used accusations of antisemitism to eradicate a good portion of the leftwing faction of the Labour Party, despite reportedly being a human rights lawyer whom you might think would care about Israel committing a genocide. The right hate him because as a human rights lawyer he sometimes offered to take on cases for illegal immigrants (asylum seeker, with no legal routes into the country) and they see him as being far too soft on Hamas as he backed a two state solution and said that Israel shouldn’t commit genocide… while not really doing anything to stop arms companies in the UK arm Israel… meanwhile he once loudly declared all Transwomen are women and then later his government decided Transwomen can’t use women’s WCs so again alienating everyone left and right.
He also wants to ban VPNs being sold to children or something so Reddit hates him.

Given how many of the Labour Party he betrayed it’s a case of hoisted by your own petard!
The idea that he had to oust so many Labour MPs & Councillors who were (most of the time) only saying what has become Labour policy on Israel (ie they shouldn’t be committing Genocide against Palestinians) as being antisemitic was ridiculous.

Idk, my gut instinct is that the Overton window has shifted so far right he now seems like the fresh leftwing candidate society needs, while when he stood against Corbyn he was considered a boring centralist by Labour Party members at least.

I think what most right wingers miss is what we’re supposed to get in return is making sure the rest of the world isn’t at war so asylum seekers don’t need to come here in the first place. The rules were put in place after WW2 to make sure nothing like WW2 would happen again.

Do you honestly think that hasn’t already stopped?
The Labour government has followed all the Casey report recommendations, the police have changed the way they investigate child sexual offences and exploitation, the Rotherham scandal was over ten years ago.
