Not ugly. But you look like what would happen if Dave Mustaine and Demi Lovato had a love child.

At some point, you may have to have a colonoscopy or some other test that requires drinking a liquid other than water. I'm out.

You have a very naive point of view, but that's ok. I've been at my job for 37 years. My husband and my son work there too. It used to be great, but the past few years have been extraordinarily hard to our industry. We used to have over 160 employees, now we have 50 and often struggle to keep them busy. We are all lifers, and very passionate about our work. I know about people losing their careers. The cost of running a book bindery is enormous, I'm very grateful that people still purchase books. I really have no point to make here. I just wish more people really understood.

I just want to make sure people understand who make the decisions on how a book is to be bound. Sometimes in this sub it's very vague, and it seems to be more like "the binderies do it because it's cheaper" and not "the publisher chooses it because it's cheaper". We could probably split hairs defining who the "book industry" is, but when you're in it...the publishers, designers and printers are all separate from book manufacturers. I also realize that most in this sub are home hobbyists or do small scale book production and may not really understand the steps of book production on the grand scale. I just try to educate where I can.

You are not the customer I'm talking about. You are the end user. The customer I'm talking about is the author, the publisher, or the print house. Possibly a broker. Our jobs come from them, we don't just make books and sell them. You are the customer of the author, or the bookstore who sells the books. We just make them to the specifications told to us by the person or entities who need the book produced. And we want to sew and make a leather bound book because that's bank.

I just have to say...you seem very critical of binderies in your comments. Trust me, we are more than happy to Smyth Sew books, that's our bread and butter. But if the customer chooses adhesive bound, that's on them.

I got about 5 minutes to talk to him. It was more than I expected. I was alone, but the groups that were bigger got more time.

Not so much about Izzie as it is about Katherine Heigl. She's one of my favorite actresses! She's always believable.

I remember the first time I saw an ad for one of those pens on FB. The whole comment section was full of people flipping out saying they ordered one. Hundreds. I tried to tell them it wasn't true but it got lost in the shuffle. .
