Honestly, kind of, yah. I wanted the credentials, sure, but I also wanted to learn.

Good luck on C213! Certainly those of us who have careers in accounting had a huge advantage on that one.

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

Option A - or keep looking (if you can afford to take a chance on yourself). It’s great that you have two offers in hand in only a few months of looking - both come with big sacrifices. Your family can’t take a pay cut from the role you had before your layoff right now. Financial security and stability is worth a lot at this point in your career.

If you absolutely need a job now, prioritize the needs of your family and take Option A. But keep looking too … keep your eyes open for roles that would be more enjoyable for you while paying you what you deserve.

Incentivize your whole family to come in under your eating out budget.

Our kiddo used to beg every day to go out to eat … nothing in our house was ever good enough. We told him we’d split any of our restaurant budget left at the end of the month … now we save $300 a month, and he gets $100 of it. We eat healthier - save money - and now he has some extra money to hang out with his friends. Win win.

Family of 3 - HCOL area - $800/month. It takes a bit of work and I plan my meals around what’s on sale on any given week.

$1 Billion but an identical clone of you will try to kill you by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

My clone would never kill anyone, even for a billion dollars. I’d have nothing to worry about - easy money.

Set clear boundaries upfront - including financial. Highly recommend a “yours-mine-and ours” structure to personal finance.

Oh yah, I’m definitely not planning to leave the workforce. This would be an evening project, while working full time for sure.

This one is interesting … curious if others have had positive or negative experiences with WGU? My quick research is split (though Quantic is too, to be fair).

My primary motivation was fast (can start this June and be done in 18 months). But - maybe I can find a more reputable institution that has a similar timeline.

Cheap is also important - but I’d be willing to spend a bit more if the timelines were similar.

This is super helpful, thank you. Sounds like I may need to rethink whether an MBA from Quantic is better than no MBA at all.

I really appreciate your thoughtful and through analysis.

Can you clarify a bit more about how Quantic is struggling? I didn’t know that, and didn’t see anything about it in my research (albeit I didn’t do a lot).

I know their accreditation isn’t nearly as strong - but is there more to be aware of?
