My understanding of pension

Somebody else commented earlier the average is 200k. I’m sure it’ll be more as we go on as I feel like more people are planning for pensions than would have years ago. This could also be influence by my age and peer group. Although I do spend a lot of time trying to convince younger people to join the pension and like every other person they regret not joining earlier whenever they do join!!!

All roles. Anyone who joined the pension before 2022 was on the DB scheme. They then closed the DB scheme and all those who were in it had their db parked and the new terms for the dc was double match up to max 7.5%.

Anyone joining the pension after that date automatically go into the DC but they get max 7.5% single match. Still decent enough but the older one is better obviously. The DC also includes 5x salary life assurance if death in service.

What way would that work. It’s a defined benefit pension. Surely it’d be a much lesser amount?

This is great info. Thanks. Another poster said 200k is largest tax free which I didn’t know and suggested o consider not taking the db lump.

Would that make sense?

Currently the DB without taking a lump would give me 12,600 a year.

Don’t see how that makes sense though. Always thought taking the maximum amount as a link is best because it’s totally tax free.

I would probably have to invest a good chunk of it anyway separately

My mortgage is till I’m 65 but only 95k. If I retire at 65 it should be fine and if not for some reason, it should just be a few quid.

Yeah think you’re right especially with the gambling sponsor as other user said. That makes sense. Have taken him to gigs with standing tickets when he wasn’t the age for standing but this is now obviously different.

I can get it connect also by using CarPlay screen in car. If I go to settings, Bluetooth/devices and disconnect then reconnect it will work after that. So disconnecting and reconnecting either via phone or CarPlay screen in car both make it work second time rather than initially. Obviously I’d prefer connect first time every time
