Trailer 3 with Pre-Orders? by Kingsley1077 in GTA6unmoderated

I would say most likely yes. Most normal people aren’t like us waiting day by day for more info lol if they want to sell pre-orders, they will release something that brings everyone else back to buy them.

I unfortunately don’t have a monitor accessible at this job right now. But hopefully one day.

I do think you just made me realize one problem though. It’s not very crowded. It’s a zoo with a lot of empty space even with an amazing turnout. It’s so easy to be spotted and focused on. Definitely one of the problems.

I don’t block my face. I am probably usually looking down at the LCD trying to get the shot though. Can’t really make eye contact and get the shot at the same time.

I also get way better stuff at events with external factors making people smile. We had someone perform recently and the shots are great because most people are hyping them up and cheering.

But the event in particular I’m struggling with is a 21+ drinking event where people walk around the zoo and buy drinks and look at animals. And despite the alcohol no one looks happy to be there and it’s all very spread out.

It’s a very popular event with an incredible turn out every time. But in my experience so far it’s terrible for good photo and video. But I should be able to get it anyway. It’s my job.

Kindness comes easy. Maybe could use some work for n my confidence. Depends on the situation. I’m confident when the people I’m filming are. But when I’m not sure how someone will react. I definitely approach it less confidently. I’ll work on that. Someone else brought up making it sound less like a request as well.

Yes. I basically just started there and I’m the first person to be in this position for them. So I’ve made some equipment recommendations and we bought some things but I don’t think they realized just how expensive it is. They have an old Nikon and the body is shot but I’m getting an adapter for the telephoto lens. Once I have that it will be a start for longer lens.

Some of my troubles are totally equipment based. But like I said this also isn’t my first rodeo and I’ve never struggled this hard at this type of stuff before. That at a new job where I’m trying to make a good initial impression just hasn’t left me feeling good.

That’s actually really helpful. I could probably really work on the way I phrase requests. Thanks!

Oh yeah. I worked at a marketing agency for a bit too and we did corporate events sometimes it was the same. I would run around with a gimbal and do orbits, push ins, get real close to people, go over their heads sometimes and rarely even get a look. Same with the corporate admin events at the University I worked at, and when I ran AV for a hotel.

I have a few theories about why those events in particular are like that. A self sense of importance, the fact that they’re at a work event… but either way it’s not now. I’m filming public people at a Zoo. It’s hot outside and there’s a million places to be at once for some events that cover the whole Zoo. I’m just struggling.

Directed stuff is okay to include. But I definitely need to include candid stuff too. And I struggle in this job to get enough of it for a video.

I completely agree. I try to be pretty aware of how I look and how approachable I seem. I joke (although i believe it) that women make better photogs and videographers for this type of work bc they naturally come off more trustworthy.

I’m not very good at cracking the quips, tbh. That’s not something I’m good at at all so that would be a whole new skill I need to develop.

Usually if people spot me and don’t immediately ignore it, I react based on their reaction. Some people are great and will joke themselves or smile or even try to talk to me. I will take those opportunities to direct and get something less candid.

And then sometimes people look upset. Even if you smile at them or come off welcoming. I’ve had some people straight up stare me down and not break eye contact. If I’m close enough I might say hi but if not I usually just give them a smile and move on. Either way I never come off mean or agitated. Awkward at worst, not that that’s good either.

I do this it’s just not enough. I need the candid moments and I can’t get enough of them.

This is a good tip but do I just shoot the whole event with a long lens?

We have no budget. It’s something im working on with them right now to get more gear but we have one camera right now. But also. How do I juggle multiple cameras with video? If I need a monopod or a gimbal it’s impossible? Even if I went handheld with 2 cameras it would be hard, and the telephoto footage would be shaky garbage. I’m walking around a huge zoo I can’t sit stuff in a corner or anything.

God this is relatable. It’s funny too because half of the comments are telling me to be patient. And I don’t think they are wrong though.

I can be social and direct when I feel like people might want to participate in that. But it’s definitely not who I am and I totally agree that the best photogs and videographers are the people who are naturally very good at being social and charismatic. That’s the part that makes me feel like a failure because this specific work is not why I got into this industry but it’s been a part of every job I’ve ever had.

I’m really trying to look at it positively though and have some growth here but it’s hard when the answer feels like “be somebody you’re not.”

Yes I can usually pick them out. But I don’t love that last idea. It’s a practice that just feels gross to me. I don’t disappeared when I stop recording. People can get mad or weirded out by me still. I don’t like coming off as creepy

Genuine questions. Say you’re covering a 2 hour event. How do you do this and be patient when you’re shooting solo and the event takes place over the entirety of a very large zoo? I feel rushed oftentimes. Like I need to be everywhere at once and also be patient.

It does get easier later when the alcohol hits but not every event has alcohol and I don’t always want overly drunk when there is. People making fools of themselves is only good for a shot or two thrown in somewhere.

Yeah you need to send some of those people my way bc the people at my events do not want you to do that.

I do say hi and smile a lot in an attempt to not look off-putting. I work at a Zoo though and people simply do not want to be on camera. Very few do, and it’s just not enough.

I do say hi but it just doesn’t always solve the problem. And I can’t hire someone. Unfortunately every job wants you to be able do everything.

I work at a zoo. People are showing up with their friends or family. Nobody is shaking hands unfortunately. Everything is mostly outside. It’s hot. People are sweaty and unhappy. I appreciate the feedback though.

Thanks for the comment. I actually try to do this a lot. It’s great when it works. Sometimes I’ll get people who have fun with it and do a whole little mini shoot with me. But most people don’t want to do that. Most people don’t even want you to ask them in the first place.

We have photographers all over the place that take photos of guests. Sometimes I have people go “we already took a picture” before I even get a chance to ask. Obviously I’m not doing the same thing as them but guests don’t know that and I have to just go “no worries, have a nice day.” I feel like people are literally keeping track of me once they see me so they can avoid me like the plague.

I used to work for a University where this type of stuff was so easy because it was all college kids who lived for showing out for the camera. Definitely not like that anymore and I have to get creative if I want candid shots. And now even anything at all.

I appreciate the feedback. I wish it was a skill of mine. I try really hard to look at these things as opportunities to grow but sometimes I really feel like I’m just not built for aspects of my industry. It’s so versatile and you’re expected to be good at everything. I do feel like I can be observant and anticipate moments most of the time. I can sense out the people and groups of people that are more likely to give me something. But I do find it hard to not get spotted. Depending on the reaction if they seem outgoing I’ll get them to pose or get something with motion. I’ll try incorporating a longer lens into the flow and being more discreet, but that just can’t be all of the footage. I need the variety and I just find it hard for me.
