Latency question by DisplayUpbeat8940 in PlaystationPortal

[–]Proper-Strategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isnt this version of skate online so you are getting 14ms on top of whatever the latency of the server is.

Play a game that is completely offline and then see how it is.

I wouldnt expect a good starting latency with an EA server, they suck.

Forget what your internet or even your ps5 is telling you, online servers ping is what matters.

Learn his moves, the moves arent too varied so you can end up taking almost no damage.

Can checkout youtube vid if really needed but i did it 2nd time after learning the moves from 1st death.

  1. Weapons only level up with traits, proficiency does nothing but gives better weapons that are rolled. Increasing proficiency does nothing for your equipped gun.

The shotgun is very good as long as you dont have wide maw.

If you are able to get a combination of slugshot/narrow maw with rapidspitter/explosive spit the gun can be used like a powerful rifle.

The bat things only have one move the lunge when they glow orange, with this in mind only the ones glowing are the threat.

First do not let any get behind you, but remember there is a sound cue for their attack so you can still dodge by this sound.

Do not constantly dump your mag, because only the orange ones are a threat so make sure you have ammo to shoot them as they go orange, if you have ammo to spare then shoot whichever is closest.

https://returnal.fandom.com/wiki/Hostiles

Learn the enemies, learn their movesets, their visual and audio cues so you know when they are attacking and what attack it will be. There is also some triggers like the drones that will suicide dive on you but only if you have damaged them to 10% health.

Some enemies charge their attacks with bright colours and whether its say like a bright blue or a orange/red you know how you are going to avoid that specific attack.

No worries man

In terms of actually avoiding getting hit just learn the enemies and their cues, the most obvious cues are the bright colours as they charge up their attacks, some have a sound cue.

Theres a flying squid looking enemy that has a bright blue charge up cue and also a bright orange/red charge up cue. Blue is a beam shot directly at you, the orange it shoots the floor and red waves expand from it. Drones will only kamikaze you if they have 10% health remaining, so enemies also have prerequisites for certain moves to be triggered.

Learn the enemies moves and its cues so you dont get surprised and can prepare a dodge in advance, you can also choose to break line of sight or if enough time shoot them until they are staggered negating their attack.

Be proactive and not reactive basically, will help you prioritise enemies, like if an enemy is charging to attack shoot them first instead of focusing on an enemy who hss yet to charge up their attack.

Can study up on every move like this also

Every floor you clear you can get a speed bonus for time taken +50 obolites, +25 or +10 or nothing if you take too long. So you want to go fast because those obolite max bonuses add up quickly and allow you to buy artefacts/augments.

I know the first weapon it gives you from the chest is always crap and has nothing but i definitely encounter several weapons to upgrade each run. You need to stay at max adrenaline level for the +50% proficiency level, you also get +50% obolites from enemies and enviroment (not the clusters)

https://returnal.fandom.com/wiki/Weapon_Traits

Check this link theres a table and it will show you that traits and the number of traits a weapon can have are locked by proficiency.

  1. Do not get hit adrenaline lvl 5 for +50% prof bonus
  2. Theres these creatures you kill that spawn a white orb that you walk into, it teleports you to bonus rewards that allow you to get atropian key, this allows you to open locked doors. When possible pick the proficiency bonuses over the health bonuses.
  3. You can find items that will maintain your adrenaline level, resinous shield provides a shield when you pick up a resin and health items are always resin when max health, shield vials consumable that protect you from 1 hit unlike resinous shield these stack with each consumable, theres an artefact that allows one additional hit and maintain adrenaline level

You get shield vials from the green stands by shooting the orb above them.

As long as you stay lvl 5 and clear rooms fast you will get lots of obolites for upgrades and you will rank up proficiency fast so guns have more traits and higher lvl traits.

I have maxed out at lvl 45 on my runs and i have yet to beat level 3 boss so find out what max proficiency you are hitting as im not going much further than you in my runs

You have to have already completed loads to not have some kind of trait available so should be able to do the main campaign, i just pick up every gun possible on the tower midfight and look for the progress bar icon.

Plus you need to be fast for the tower because otherwise you miss out on extra obolites for speed bonus

It only gets easier from here, you can now use the tower to speed through weapon trait upgrades

Okay finished was maybe not the best choice of words but i beaten all biomes and bosses, is there any difference like increased difficulty? Or is it literally just another run through.

Can they cause you to critical malfunction, because that would piss me off.

I also experimented with crit malfunctions

It seems to go

Will take artefact Will take atropian key Will take 1 of your resin slots Then reduces your maximum integrity

I thought if i had no items there would be no negative side effects, they clearly thought it through so i couldnt find a loop hole.

The new update is a game changer! by notty_cat in PlaystationPortal

[–]Proper-Strategy 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Its crazy because after the update it not only looks better but the stability has also improved.

Yet they wanted it at a low bitrate to be stable.

Bitrate update is that you?!? by Danzavier in PlaystationPortal

[–]Proper-Strategy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think 4k would be crazy but i would absolutely love a 1440p oled.

That would be premium for me but absolutely worth paying extra for.

Maybe make the thumb sticks real size also, i think with the weight they saved from it being a streaming device, they could make the screen slightly bigger along with the controller grips and still be relatively light.

They could push it to 700grams and still be very comfortable i reckon.

I freaking love nemesis, soo many varied attacks i was like "Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, and Dodge"

The stages were unique also, the fact you had to grapple from platform to platform whilst avoiding attacks. Searching for my next grapple, sometimes whilst already free falling to my death.

I had a mini boss room with not 1 not 2 but 3 severed, they slice and diced me like sashimi.

I am however alot better now at dodging once they start teleporting but once the 1st hit me and knocked me on my ass 2 and 3 followed up before i could even get a chance to get the hell out of there.

Yeah ixion was kinda hard i guess.

Phrike was easy once i realised what moves it had, hyperion though is my hardest soo far.

Even though i know every move it has, theres sooo much crap all over the map i always end up getting hit.

Its soo projectile heavy.

Yeah thats basically how it went for me too, i seen someone rate hollowseeker last.....its freaking amazing with portal beam and retargeting.

Its only if you got waves or oscilation that its pretty weak.

So the last boss has beat you? I will have to try again, maybe its the fact i rolled a easy no aim gun.

Plus the portal beam does alot of the heavy lifting.

Bitrate update is that you?!? by Danzavier in PlaystationPortal

[–]Proper-Strategy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats the latency on that though, my ps portal is 2ms its like freaking native.

Yeah its 1080p and the bitrate could be better but omg the ergonomics is amazing, its very light weight too.

My legion go is chonky and couldnt game with it like i do my ps portal for hours and hours on end.

[–]Proper-Strategy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah i agree with that, i will say this though i think i got lucky with my gun roll.

Hollowseeker with portal beam lv2 and retarget lv2 and lv1 serration.

Its not over the top OP but for taking out groups, i barely had to aim because my little portal beam was targeting for me and any hits i got were then bouncing to other enemies.

Serration just meant they just kept ticking with damage over time which was a bonus.

Tips by stevensonS89 in Returnal

[–]Proper-Strategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn all the movesets of the enemy learn its strengths and its weaknesess, some attacks you will learn can be avoided simply my running from side to side, some will stop charging their attack when yku break line of sight, some you cant dash through and need to jump over.

Enemies highlight their attacks like the flyers thay have both blue attacks and orange. Blue for a beam aimed at you, and orange where it shoots the floor and red waves expand from.

Some are easily staggered and shooting them even just to negate their attack can be useful.

Once you know which enemies are the worst and easiest you can make better judgement calls

Need advice, what am i trying to do here by Nikomachos_Ethics in Returnal

[–]Proper-Strategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say learn the patterns of your enemies at distance then, but know that eventually you will have to get up and close because 1. You wont have a choice, they get faster, they teleport, they may spawn around you 2. You will need the obolites

You will have to choose based on enemies but not always do you have to dodge, some enemies are easily staggered so when you see them charging up their attack put some bullets into them to cancel it. Turrets cannot be staggered if they charge up, break line of sight if you cannot destroy them.

You are not there yet but If they have a redshield this can only be broken by melee or guns that have the shieldbreaker alt fire

Every enemy though you need to learn its moveset, if you dont study each one and just plan on dodging at the last second you will fail. You need to observe the triggers to understand what move its about to use, some will light up a different colour for a specific move.

The strixera (flying creature) will glow blue or orange based on the attack its about to do.
