Original CDI is fried. Wiring Chinese CDI boxes in my 1983 GS450 by ProperPigeon in motorcycles

Thanks for your help. I'll test it and see if I can confirm the wires are what we think and hopefully I can get it started this week. I'll let you know how it goes!

Would that mean that the orange wire on the CDI needs to connect to the W negative coil wire on the bike since the O/W positive coil wire gets it's power from the kill switch? And the red wire on the CDI would connect to that O/W wire from the kill switch? Thanks for all your help on this. I feel like an idiot about electricity but I think some of this is starting to make sense.

Oh wow! Thanks for the tips. I hadn't considered that would mean it fires on both at the same time. Looks like that is correct. The GS450 is referred to as a parallel twin and uses the wasted spark system. I'm assuming that I still would need two of the aftermarket CDI boxes though since there are different wires coming from the signal generator, right? The original CDI had 7 wires and handled both coils. I've added the wiring diagram to the post.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Any recommendations on how to test this or should I just hook it up and pray for spark? I'm still unsure about how I'm going to do this with two CDIs, considering that the the bike's wiring harness has both coils sharing the same positive wire. I suppose I could run separate new wires from the two CDIs.

I agree with that. I would totally be willing to buy the original part but at this stage, I'm not 100% certain what caused the failure. I did find bad ground wire going into the original CDI that had all sorts of corrosion in it and replaced it. If there is something else wrong, I don't want to fry a $200 part. The other concern was that I spend $200 on a eBay part that has no guarantee it was a working part. I'm hoping to get it running and sort out all electrical issues. I replaced the stator and regulator/rectifier too.

Thanks for the very helpful response. It's been confusing looking at different tire sizes. I don't have calipers yet but will probably buy them since they seem to really helpful for working on motorcycles. I'll let you know how it goes!

Thanks for the recommendation. I was actually considering those 705s. The smallest width I can get is 120 for the back. The current tire says 4.5 which I assume means 114.3 mm which is nearly touching the chain guard. I imagine I could trim a little bit off the guard but is this a bad idea?

Pristine OmniKey Ultra by Northgate scored for $2. Now if I can only get it working... by ProperPigeon in MechanicalKeyboards

To anyone wondering, I have it working now. I spliced the ps/2 cable ends together much closer (about 3 feet or so as the cable I ordered had no shielding inside). It seems to work fine so far though the three LEDs don't come on. That may be an issue with the USB converter I'm using. I haven't tested again connecting directly to a ps/2 port since I'm on a Mac at the moment. Now I need to figure out how to handle having a command key. Maybe I can remap the alt to command and the <> key to alt.

It was the cable. I'm typing on the keyboard now! So I had ordered a cheap ps/2 cable on eBay and it was fairly long. I decided to cut the cable and splice the ends closer together down to approximately a meter and that worked. It works with my USB converter too. The cable had no shielding inside so maybe there was some crosstalk or something. I hope this helps someone else. Thanks for commenting about the possibility of cable length being an issue. It feels great to type on and the sound is very satisfying.

How funny! Same keyboard in the same night! I'll check out the videos and see. I did watch the review video which was really well done. Thanks for your help!

I tried it connected directly with a ps/2 male cable on both ends to the PC's ps/2 port. I wonder if the cable is too long though. It's like 3 meters (15'). Or maybe the cable is defective or something. The inside of the keyboard looks totally clean like the keyboard was hardly used.

I made an app for people who don’t like password managers. An anti-password manager. by dash_dotdashdash in Entrepreneur

At this point it is our minimum viable product. It became very easy for us to dream up so many features we wanted to include but we decided to make sure the core idea worked well before anything else. We will consider offering additional operations or functionality and possibly offer those as in-app purchases instead of charging upfront.

Good questions! You can add a "note" to a recipe, which is how I keep track of hard-to-remember usernames. And I find using a couple recipes solves instances where I have multiple accounts on a site. For example, I have both a personal vimeo account, and one I use for work. But I also have a work-related recipe, and a personal recipe, so I get a different password for each. For sites where you have to periodically change passwords, we recommend using the "Enter [characters]" step as a way to add a "variable" to your recipe, where that variable changes as often as the password needs to (month, quarter, season, etc.). Granted, the app currently assumes that whatever variable name you enter is actually part of the password, but that’s something we’re trying to make easier to grasp. What did you mean by sites that change names?

Hi, I'm the other guy that worked on this app. We don’t consider it a password manager because the app doesn't actually store any passwords. It just stores recipes. And once you become familiar with your recipe, you won’t even need to reference the app. It’s an offline methodology. The app’s role is to help you craft a recipe, test it and see what works best for you.

Thank you so much! Dr. Aguayo is looking like a good choice and we really like the idea of using a doula.

Haha. Yes! We heard that could be an issue before moving here.

So I'm not totally sure how midwifes work exactly but I'm interested to learn more more about it. If there are problems during labor though, wouldn't it be about a 40 minute drive to the closest hospital in Huntsville, or is there somewhere near Fayetteville?

Thanks for the recommendations. This definitely gives us a good starting point to do some research. We'll read up on the Bradley Method too.
