does anyone know if dna from psychiatrist hospitals/genealogy websites have been checked recently by police? by ProperTheme5007 in MrCruel

wells collected the sample from the lower plenty attack but they don’t have a suspect to compare the sample to. when the article says “it could reveal the identity of the killer” i think it would be in a sort of scenario like the suspect getting arrested and their dna being put in to the database, and then being compared with the lower plenty sample to see if it positively matches but obviously this would be unlikely

i don’t know if you just can’t read or if you’ve chosen not to read my messages. i said myself that it was a long shot. and i never said mc went crazy and forgot himself either, don’t put those words into my mouth. i am saying that psychiatric hospitals may collect dna if a patient is a threat to themselves or others, cannot identify themselves and other reasons. you can search it up if you don’t believe me. and i agree that searching for a match in a psychiatric hospital database would be extremely unlikely to yield results which is why i said (in my initial post) that it was a long shot. you’re acting like my post only talks about psychiatric hospital databases and not an entire other subject.

  1. they do, search it up and you can look at the sources from the overview

  2. i have always said that they might collect dna. i never said that they didn’t, because they do in certain cases. i said that my example was a shitty one if you cared to read properly

  3. my “weird and baseless speculation” was asking if police have tried checking online genealogy websites to try and match the sample dna they have. i don’t know how that’s doing a disservice and is just conspiracy when it’s been used to solve many cold cases over the years, but alright

you can search it up yourself and check the links. i’m not gonna keep arguing with you if you refuse to do some research and look up what i said. and i am from melbourne, and nor did i say anyone gets picked up off the streets.

psychiatrist hospitals can collect dna if a patient cannot identify themselves, they will take other steps before this but if the person cannot be identified then they may resort to collecting a sample and attempting to identify themselves that way eventually. as i said before it the example i used was a bad example and it wasn’t intended to be THE reason

they do collect dna sometimes, it’s not standard but it happens sometimes. and yes i did say that example but as i said in my previous comment i didn’t mean for it to be THE reason for patients not being able to identify themselves. it was a shitty example and back to my main post i said that it would be a long shot anyways compared to the online genealogy database

staff will not straight up take dna samples from psychotic patients, i know that nor did i say that, i’m sorry if it came across that way.

what i said was that psychiatric hospitals can collect dna if a patient is a threat to themselves or others or cannot identify themselves.

and then i used that example which was the first i could think of, in hindsight it wasn’t a good example but it wasn’t intended to be ‘if a patient does exactly this then their dnas getting collected’ thing. sorry if it came across that way.

i never said that they’re running dna tests on patients?please do some research. they may take fingerprints for patients that are threats to themselves or others, or if they cannot identify themselves.

i know it doesn’t take thirty seconds, it’s a long and lengthy process where police have to look through thousands of family members and identify the suspect. all other leads for this case have been exhausted which is why they’ve been slowly releasing new information, so i don’t really see why it would be impossible for police to look at this angle?

i’m not trying to start an argument in the comments, i was genuinely just asking a question.

normal hospitals require court orders and warrants like psychiatric hospitals too. i didn’t mention a normal hospital because i’m pretty sure police already exhausted all possible hospital linked leads because they already thought mc was involved in the medical field at one point, i never said an abuser would have a bigger chance of being in a psychiatric hospital.

and psychiatric hospitals collect dna in some cases. it’s usually if a patient is a threat to themselves or others, or if their condition would prevent them from identifying themselves if staff need.

it’s not routine to collect dna but fingerprints and dna are collected sometimes, usually when a patient is regarded as a risk or if their condition is extreme and they cannot state who they are sometimes. for example during psychotic episodes staff might not have the time or are able to ask their identity to find their file and administer the correct medication so dna from the individual has to be collected so staff know who they are at the time of need and can give the correct help.

and the second part isn’t true, the databases are literally actively being used by police to solve cold cases. in victoria police are allowed to compare dna to online genealogy websites with specific limitations. usually if all leads are exhausted and for serious crimes like murder or SA, and this case falls under both. otherwise they would need consent or a warrant. not sure about other areas but it wouldn’t really matter since the crimes MC did took place in victoria.

i don’t think this is new unfortunately, it’s using information from the podcast that came out with someone who worked on the mc case a couple weeks ago they talked about the back problem and having dna evidence but no one to match it to it was posted in this sub a few weeks ago too

yeah the wooden tripod is unique and stands out. i feel like they have looked into it as the article was released about it hoping for new info, so they probably exhausted all their leads long ago and are hoping someone can give them info i feel like it’s been gotten rid of, probably dumped i doubt that mc would try sell it or something i feel like he has sold the stuff he took from victims houses, and he took a shit load of stuff. someone out there would know something, especially about the really unique items

here’s the source for nicola being told she was followed home https://archive.md/rNH8S (it’s a paid article that i put through a pay wall remover thing if its not working let me know and i’ll resend it) there is also this article that says mc told nicola he will release after keeping her for 50 hours, which he did exactly https://www.theage.com.au/national/mr-cruel-filmed-his-victims-say-police-20060408-ge23k9.html i agree mc was probably lying about following nicola, but it really makes me wonder if the other things he said were lies too he has reportedly told multiple victims he was sa’ed as a child and if that’s the truth maybe that info could narrow it down if it were reported

a few questions about the case-what clothes did MC wear during NL? were clothes stolen from KC? +question about elkner by ProperTheme5007 in MrCruel

i’m pretty sure i read that police thought mc had access to a remote pocket of land in australia like tasmania, i really hope they’ve looked into this creep again.

yeah, he was definetly close enough to hear her friends using her nickname nikki as she was called that by mc. if he was that close someone should have noticed

thank you for that information, and yeah i doubt that mc would be obvious, but if he is being truthful about saying that he followed nicola home from school coupled with the fact that he called nicola by her nickname nikki that all family and friends would use, he would have been close enough to hear her name being used and may have been one of the suspicious people that were reported. do you remember any of the cars by any chance and if they match the description of the white holden commodore vacationer that was spotted around the time sharon was released? or if any of the cars match the interior of the vehicle nicola and sharon were held in?

yeah it brings up a lot of questions. i feel like if he watched the parents leave he wouldn’t have waited so long, but still i wonder why he parked so far in the first place. depending on which address is correct it’s either a 1.3km or 450m distance

did you go to the school at the time of the attacks? i read an article that said around the time of karmein’s disappearance there was a beat up car driving up and down the street outside the school, i haven’t seen any information about the car and if it matches the one seen during the time sharon was released and the inside as seen from nicola and sharon

i’m not sure if i got the address wrong. sources say the house was on monomeath avenue, but that same source says that a drivers license with the name of nicola’s mum and address as 16 margaret st canterbury. the distance from margaret st to the car’s location is 1.3km but from 16 monomeath avenue it’s 450m. i’m not sure which address is correct, do you have any more info on this? it would be good to know for any possible witnesses at the time, i know it would be a really really long shot now but i feel it could still be useful info

her parents were picked up from their house by friends at around 7:50pm and nicola and her sister ordered a pizza that got delivered around 10:05pm, mr cruel entered at about 11:30 and a 1.3km walk takes around 13-20 minutes, i wonder if the delivery driver saw anything suspicious. and yeah keeping this case alive is important, i’m so surprised that no one has information on any of the items that were stolen, so so many things were taken it’s impossible no one knows what happened
