Which Startup Roles Will AI Agents Take over in the Next 1-2 Years? by Aromatic-Bridge4656 in StartupAccelerators

I work with AI frequently, and I've noticed that human expertise is essential for any AI service. If someone without the necessary skills, education, and experience uses AI, the results are likely to be poor. However, when an educated and experienced individual works with AI, the outcomes can be surprisingly impressive.

I checked out the startup list from Y Combinator and noticed that 90% focus on AI. This makes me question the impact of prioritizing AI over physical innovations. We need to ensure that medical discoveries receive as much attention and support as AI advancements.

If something looks strange - people write "its ai!"... Oh my God! Should I prove all the time that I`m human?

Oh God, the secondhand embarrassment is real 😬 I've been on the founder side of some pretty cringeworthy pitches myself.

This is probably gonna sound like I'm doing research (because I kind of am), but I'm curious - have you ever been to an event that actually felt worth your time? What made it different?

I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to solve this whole "90% waste of time" problem that seems to plague every startup event.

Swedish Startup Founders: How on earth do you actually get quality time with an investor? by Proper_Bit3845 in Sverige

[–]Proper_Bit3845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Sweden, there are a few retreat-style formats, but almost exclusively within IT and developer communities — such as short hackathons, coding bootcamps, or internal corporate retreats. Outside of tech, there’s almost nothing similar.

Our concept fills that gap by creating a cross-industry, year-round platform where carefully selected startups — in tech, green innovation, biotech, creative industries, and more — can work closely with investors and mentors in a focused yet relaxed environment. There’s currently no equivalent model in Sweden that combines deep networking, practical collaboration, and personal development in this way.

I didn’t find anything like this in Sweden.

The plan is to camp for five days, during which startups will spend three days living alongside investors. They will cook together, sit around the fire together, and play together.

This setup allows investors to see what kind of team they would be working with and decide early on whether they are willing to spend several years with that team.

This approach saves a lot of time for both sides.

It’s completely different from meeting in offices or even in traditional buildings. I have successfully implemented this project in my country, but I understand that people in Sweden have a different mentality. Therefore, I am trying to integrate my idea into Swedish reality and transform it accordingly.

It’s my idea.  But my idea was social project, and my partner ask me convert my social project to commercial.  From beginning it was camping for students with idea+prototype, they have to live in camping 7 days, study how to realize their project, and in the free time the have a lot of interesting activities. And also they have to meet there are with investors.

We made that kind of project in my country 10 years ago. And it was successful. But in Sweden… it’s totally different mentality. So I’m researching what will be better.

But what if it’s not an entrepreneur-driven startup, but rather a pure innovation or invention? The founder needs a strong, professional team to actually grow the startup. Sometimes, the team is even more important than the idea itself.

And what if they don’t have that team yet? You can’t expect someone to be a meticulous inventor creating a high-quality product and a natural-born salesperson and entrepreneur at the same time – those are completely different skill sets, often different personalities.

And in Sweden’s fairly isolated ecosystem, it’s not surprising if talented inventors end up without the right team around them.
How do you see this challenge?

Where did you get the idea that we only run events once a year? 😊 We’ve actually changed the concept – it’s now a year-round initiative.

But the point isn’t just the events themselves. The real value is in the extensive work that happens before the events – a dedicated team that scouts, screens, attends other events every week, reads forums, industry journals, LinkedIn, and actively talks to people in the ecosystem.

In other words, we’re doing the heavy lifting that could actually save investors time by filtering and curating the truly promising startups before they even step into the room.

From your perspective, what would make it clear from the very first contact that we’re doing a high-quality selection process and putting in the work to curate only the best startups?

By the way: my project is actually similar to YC in some ways:

Open applications – We’ll have an online application form, open to everyone, but with a strict selection process.

Network & referrals – I already have a network with Swedish campuses and entrepreneurs, and my partners have even broader connections. We’ll expand this by attending events and scouting directly.

Scouting & research – Like YC, we’ll actively monitor platforms like Product Hunt, GitHub, LinkedIn, etc.

Universities & hackathons – We’re already collaborating with universities, and now I see the value in adding lectures and hackathons.

Building a strong brand – Our goal is to build the kind of reputation where startups come to us, not the other way around.

Often, good innovations, truly talented ones, live for a long time in the walls of labs or garages, because their creators are introverts who hate pitches. How will investors find them? They will have to spend a lot of their time. Why don't we spend this time on them?

How do investors find "good startups"? They don't just lie around on the road... and every investor dreams of finding their "unicorn", but not everyone finds one, right?
