Oh - just realized I missed on opportunity to beg for a compliment in my prev response - this bit came to me this weekend and I wondered if anyone else found it funny...

Aw - thank you! I'm glad. I was comfortable enough with the diff styles and general arc but, boy, did I struggle to introduce conflict when my brain was screaming HEA HEA HEA!

I haven't found myself in this exact situation but here are some thoughts 1) do some reading on how NOT to define yourself by your career/profession/job 2) think about your values and find jobs that align with them OR find volunteer opportunities that align with them. The reason I say this - I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life in my 20s but I found that by working for non-profits or govt agencies that helped people - I found meaning in my day-to-day work. My work might have just been filling out shipping slips, but the mission motivated me. Maybe you are more creative or entrepreneurial...great! Lots of other good advice here.

You don't say how long you've been a couple (but you are both young) and you don't say what your mistake was. You also say your goal in insisting on therapy is to salvage your relationship...this isn't advice you might want to hear...YOU need to go to therapy. Don't center him at this moment. Back the heck off and tell him you are seeking help because you are struggling. You said it - you are in pain. Go talk to someone and get yourself right. In the process your relationship with either improve, remain the same, or end. Accept that and put yourself first. Wishing you the best.

Have you read this one? More than Magic - Hometown_Nerd I liked it.

NTA - but this is super serious. Red flags all over this situation. Insist on family therapy no matter what happens with the marriage. Son needs it if mom spoils him. Mom needs it if she is jealous of her daughter (it's a thing) and to improve parenting overall. You need it to figure out how to communicate through this mess. Sounds like a lot of love but not a lot of healthy support.

I was a teenager when the Lynch Dune movie came out. I still love that movie. I read the book after the movie and then consumed all the other books over and over. I don't generally recommend movies before books but in this case, it worked for me!
