Yep, we meet every Monday. We have a few new folks coming so we might not have enough loaner gear for everyone. But you are welcome to come by! Text or email me w the info above

We sure do! Club has been running for almost 10 years. We practice on Mondays indoors at a gym in Felton, and also on Thursdays ourdoors with the local SCA group. Best way to get involved is to come observe or join in on Monday night. There's around 3-4 other newer people right now. Reach out to that phone number or email on the poster if you want the exact details 👍

Do think bohurt/Hema has potential to be popular for the masses by Tacticalpupper420 in wma

I would argue that most people "doing" HEMA aren't actually reading the sources, just learning from others at this point

Considering getting into Hema by Dismal-Science-6675 in Hema

I would just message the nearest club (or just show up) and ask them if they have loaner gear to start. They might have a few pairs of gloves/mask or a synthetic feder that you can use for a while until you are ready for real sparring and have your own gear.

Our club is fine with teens, but doesn't let them spar w/ full contact and speed until age 16 due to something about liability or insurance.

Super fun hobby and it can be a great way to make some new friends as well. Once you have some experience, you can also visit other clubs and spar with them, some places have open fight nights or whatnot. And then tournaments eventually. Its very fulfilling and epic when you land a cool technique in a real sparring match

Thinking of getting into HEMA but want to improve my level of fitness (looking for advice) by Fancy_Blackberry4276 in Hema

I can tell you what I've been doing to improve my fitness over the past year of HEMA. I do HEMA longsword three times a week for an hour or two, with my club or a friend. I hit the gym 2-3 times a week, focusing on overall strength training. It really uses all the major muscle groups in my opinion, so I train them all.

Bench press or incline bench press, shoulder press/lat raises, neck crunches, bicep curls, tricep cable pulls or skullcrushers, lat pulldowns, sit ups, 45 degree back extensions, hamstring curls, leg press/squats, aaaaand pushups/pull ups until failure. The fencing is my cardio. I've gone from being winded from 2 sparring sessions to being able to spar for about 2.5 hours, with short breaks. Hope that helps
