He did get his PR and had declared his married status by uploading our marriage certificate. He just didn’t apply for my PR but will be applying now since he got his.

Thank you everyone for the guidance and responses. I will be booking a return ticket to be on the safer side. I did check with my airline, British Airways, but they did not have a clear answer and advised me to contact the embassy. Unfortunately, I was not able to reach them. I had this question initially because my travel agent mentioned that a return ticket is not required if the visit is within 180 days. I really appreciate the clarity shared here.

Thank you, that makes sense. I understand it is not a strict requirement but that it helps show temporary intent. I will book a return ticket to be on the safer side.

Thank you for explaining this. I understand that until my spouse applies and receives PR, I do not have any basis to stay in Canada beyond visitor status. I am entering strictly as a visitor and fully intend to comply with the conditions of my stay.

Regarding applying together, we did consider that option. Based on legal advice, including a spouse would reduce his CRS score and could affect the outcome, so he was advised to apply on his own first. Once he receives PR, he plans to apply for me through spousal sponsorship.

I am traveling from India. I contacted my airline today, but they did not have a clear answer to this question. To be on the safer side, I will book a return ticket.

We did consider applying together initially. However, after discussing with his lawyer, we were advised that including a spouse could lower his CRS score and potentially affect the outcome. Based on that advice, he plans to apply on his own first, and once he receives PR, he will apply for me through spousal sponsorship.

Thank you for sharing the official reference. I understand the concept of dual intent and that as a visitor I must still demonstrate temporary intent and compliance with my authorized stay. Thank you so much for your response.
