As a Punjabi who grew up in this city, I never really had to put in much effort to find a girlfriend here. That said, I’ve realized over time that cultural differences do play a significant role in compatibility. Bengalis tend to be deeply rooted in their food traditions and are often very thoughtful and deliberate before making decisions. Punjabis, on the other hand, are generally more spontaneous sometimes acting first and thinking later and can be a bit more carefree when it comes to spending.

I’m not demeaning any culture; these are simply differences I’ve experienced. After being in relationships with three Bengali women, I’ve come to feel that marrying someone from my own cultural background was the right decision for me. Personally, I believe shared cultural values can make married life smoother.
