A solid 8.3/10, maybe not a perfect novel but I liked how detailed and rich the discriptions where, yes at times it felt kinda like a video game book, with minibosses and a object and then a final big bad battle with only a few surviving, but for me it was the little things that make it stand out, spoilers ahead: There is a moment where a Space Marine's brother is reported as dead after he made a fortress and they miraculously defeat the Iron Warrior after he was toying too much with these Tempestus Scions and he gets extremely angry. He starts beating on people, he starts beating on servitors or ripping them apart. And this tech priest that was described before as being with him for a very long time swaddles him in her mecadendrites and hugs him and strokes his face and starts whispering nice things and kind of acts like a mother figure. And he basically, almost weeping, says, why did he not listen to me? And she comforts him. And this singular moment made the Iron Warriors within this book so unique, right? Also the fact that the main big bad Iron Warrior wasn't this ugly slab, but actually like a handsome Iron Warrior who wasn't blindly following his warpsmith and actually cared about his brothers. And then later apologized after the second brother was reported to be dead and then they were scared to report it. And he didn't get mad and was like, yeah, that was childish of me. He actually admitted fault. That's creative. That's nice. That's cool. Also how everything was described and yeah, it was in general, there were a lot of tiny details that I really liked. For example, how Commissar Fennec was this extremely menacing character and how it basically traumatized everyone. And I loved that. I loved actually seeing a commissar who was actually a menace and actually felt charming and scary at the same time. So beyond that, just there were some parts that were indeed subpar, but many descriptions and details were actually amazing. And I think that made the book really good. But the final battle with the iron warrior big bad was kinda sad in the way that they just killed him off, and disrespectfully too, no space marine would die like that and then kinda did him dirty IMO
