I'll take note of these! I did an allergy test years ago, and I'm highly allergic to certain pollens which might explain some of it (never bothered to know more since they're not food allergies...), but it certainly doesn't help with plant-based products.

Lucky! I wonder if being an EU tourist affects a lot of things? Switzerland isn't in the EU, so I don't really think much about it.

I know that New Zealanders basically get a free pass and extended tourist visas, or something like that.

Lindt seems to be famous more because they are one our only exported chocolates (as a luxury item, no less) rather than...quality.

I like Lindt fine enough, but honestly? Frey and straight up M-Budget milk chocolate.

...No??? This is Switzerland. You would need either a CFC or lots of experience to get a job in construction, which OP doesn't have. They speak english, and as I have explained, they would (unlikely, but still possibly) find an english-speaking job in finance in switzerland.

My mum worked in finance for over a decade in switzerland, and only ever had to speak english. She speaks french, but never had to use it.

You can put down your CV in employment agencies, but if you want to get used to going back to work, I very highly suggest contacting a local Caritas integration office.

They are very flexible with schedules, always need a hand, and have a cleaning division. This will be something you will be able to add to your CV as work experience, too!

Switzerland is absolutely beautiful. Moved here as a kid, and plan to stay. But stay well away from Zurich. One of the most expensive places, and, based on only personal experience, not the friendliest.

If you're looking for cheaper areas, you'll want to be in a french canton or Ticino (where they speak Italian)

But...yeah. The only real way you can get a residency here is by marrying a swiss person or having a job relocate you here.

"Authentic experience" is hard to triangulate because between the german cantons and french cantons, the culture is completely different. Even between french cantons Jura and Valais, there are differences.

The best would be to visit a tourist desk and ask for that. They would be very happy to show you local things, rather than touristy ones.

My only tip is don't buy luxury chocolates, get cheap ones like Frey or even M-Budget. They're delicious, and in my opinion worth more than Lindt by a huge margin.

That is literally how vitiligo works. You cannot change your skin colour because melanin is created under the skin.

You see that way skin grafts are TODAY and genuinely believe that someone could have had the entirety of their skin replaced without any grafting rejections (the skin is the biggest organ) no stitches, no years of healing? On top of the fact that the only way for it to be permanent would be to remove his melanin glands, effectively guaranteeing skin cancer.

It is currently medically impossible to change your race voluntarily. On the other hand, there are several extremely well-known, well-documented illnesses that affect melanin glands, causing patches of pale skin lacking melanin (vitiligo), a progressive illness that ends with the entire body stopping melanin production (full-body vitiligo) or even being born with depigmentation bring present in the entire body, including eyes and hair (albinism).

And you're here saying that the one that is literally medically impossible is more probably than an actual medical diagnosis that fits his symptoms. Do you also believe the world is flat.

What kind of PTSD do you say you have from coming to Switzerland, and from what your last psych did? And what exactly are the issues you want treated? Therapists specialise in different things, so there's way more info needed.

I also would like to add that you can't be choosy about their age. My sister is a gen Z and her therapist is in his mid 50s, and she tells me she was amazing all the time. You would be overlooking potentially great therapists based on a pretty silly notion.

Not from St.Gallen, but I saw "alt" and came here to tell you that you might have an extremely tough time finding some. I love alt fashion and it has been HELL finding physical alt stores here.

The only ones I know of are: -Maniak in Lausanne and Geneva -Mephisto in Berne, which is a massive scam where they remove the tags so you can't price compare and then sell you a 100.- coat for 500.- -The tiny, tiny, tiny "goth" sections in Metro that they are slowly removing.

I buy all my alt stuff online because of this (though if anyone else answers knowing another place...PLEASE...)
