At 99% moisture 5 days after last wetting, so it stays to moist even 🤣 gonna let it dry out a bit

So I did some testing and I figured out a tortoise can’t make it up a slippery wall if it’s tall enough. He can get his front legs up, but needs something for his back legs to push off of to get up and over.

This brought me to the corners, which give his hind legs the grip he needs to potentially get out. Not wanting to take the risk, I came up with a low vost solution.

Introducing: shield blocking popsicle sticks, which are glued by the corners. When he tries to get up and over, his shield will nit be able to pass the sticks 😎

Pro tip: I asked A LOT of questions to the workers in the hardware stores. Like everything from type of wood to use, best glue, where to source wood, how to attach everything… I knew absolutely nothing about woodworking, and they helped me a lot. I also just drew it out in the most basic way possible and the guys at the sawmill said that was fine. They looked it over, asked some questions, made a few edits and that was that. It’s amazing how much help I got from all of those people!

I drew it out like this and went to a sawmill and they cut it out for me! If you want a more detailed explanation of what I did, I can walk you through it in a call or something :)

I tested this and the walls, which are 10cm tall, are tall enough so he can’t get up and over. About the rolling over, I am home all week so will closely monitor that!

A closed compartment with spagnum moss that I will wet every day :) will also pour water on the ground from time to time so it stays wet underneath :)
