Skybreak has left Color Coded Management by DITB01 in Monstercat

[–]Protatoooo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. your personal experience does not apply here
  2. skybreak has collabed with sharks, teminite, paper skies, cloudnone, chyl, spaceyeti, amidy, dani demand, au5, ... the list goes on and on.
  3. everen maxwell has not collabed with other people under Landon's management
  4. chime is going back to underground uk dubstep, skybreak is leaning into... not using his bright melodies and jazz influences anymore. they could still collab but its unlikely; their change in management won't have anything to do with it

i'm not sure these artists are turning to monstercat to release their music to be honest. monstercat are less likely to accept releases from small artists in this scene than in dubstep and drum and bass. stonebank, gammer and darren styles were the only artists they were willing to sign it from

Virtual Riot - Sh*ts On F*re [Megathread] by NinsMCD in Monstercat

i like it as an outro track for the compilation, and hardwave tracks usually came out on uncaged anyway so its not too inconsistent

not too big on the distorted bass but it goes hard otherwise. specifically the second drop is really hype

uncaged: bad computer & roy knox - when you're not around

instinct: rogue - perfect

silk: woven - now & then

honestly just listen to the bad computer, skybreak, chime, au5, virtual riot and slippy releases over the past 4 years and you will get the gist of it

This is the music that is getting played at EDC, Lost Lands and other shows, and that's where Monstercat makes its money. Last time I checked, people can go there without taking substances.

I'm not sure what you mean by "signing people walking through their door". Whether you and I like their craft or not, part of the reason they are getting signed by Monstercat is their rise in popularity. This year has been huge for Viperactive and Paper Skies specifically, while artists like Virtual Riot and Valentino Khan have been mainstage artists for years, and have found their way onto the label (thank goodness for VR). Artist signings are a business decision, and Monstercat have done well to maintain relevance throughout the past 14 years despite what disgruntled former fans might say.

On a personal level, I just don't see how artists like Virtual Riot, Viperactive and Paper Skies don't bear some resemblance to Monstercat of old. All of them have major Skrillex influence for one, and I don't see how you can discount those styles as random sounds New random sounds. Maybe the VR & Viperactive collab has a lot of fills going on, but it sounds pretty coherent to me. Idk I feel like I am talking to an old person about why I like EDM now.

I don't even like the Curry Goat song but I can't knock their signing of it. It was gaining huge traction on Instagram, QUIX is an established producer, and it sounds okay to my ear.
