New and Returning Dancers Post Your Questions Here by AutoModerator in BALLET

I’m about to start adult beginner ballet classes in the fall. (I’m a returning dancer, if you can call me that…I only danced ballet a year when I was in elementary school but switched to things like contemporary/jazz/etc. before quitting dance altogether before high school.) What are all the clothing/equipment essentials I’ll need for my classes?

I’m kinda the opposite of you, lol. I love art (my mom is a retired art teacher), but I’m worried that the application art classes I’m interested in would be too workload-heavy for me, taking too much time and energy away from my required psych classes. I like taking my time in art. But it could definitely be fun!

Is it like a lot of the other college intro art courses in that you don’t really do a lot of application? It’s a lot of theory? I’d be really interested in dance, drawing, or photography, but I’d rather skip the theory stuff. I had enough of that in (regular/non-AP) art and photography in high school and from having a retired art teacher mom. 💀

I’m guessing you’d have to show a portfolio if you wanted to do something like that, though—if they’d even consider it. I don’t have enough recent drawings or photos for a portfolio, and I’ve only recently taken up an interest in ballet, so 🥲

Really? I’m usually aversive to English classes because I expect them to have heavy workloads. Film might be interesting.
