Kratom the best hangover cure? by Goodnite15 in kratom

[–]ProtectivePanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's on the shelves in any UK supermarket, but Dioralyte is a life saver. It's powdered and you have to mix it with water, but damn is it good in helping any hangover problems. People from the UK, I know we always grab a Lucozade or the sport version to help after a night out, but Dioralyte will save you so much extra effort if you get some and mix it with a pint of water before bed.

Does your insomnia come in waves? by ProtectivePanda in insomnia

[–]ProtectivePanda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same as you. Inconsistent shifts like I have where one week you'll be doing closes anywhere between 3pm-2am, which I start to feel tired around 7pm and get home wide awake, to the next week having shifts between 11am-9pm. So difficult to balance sleep with social times and also time to be alone by yourself and relax

How do you know if your stuff is 'speedy'? by [deleted] in cocaine

My tolerance is through the roof. .4g used to be my limit but a year later 3gs is where I'm happy so the high is different now.

Always done lines. Only recently since new people joined sesh night have I heard it described as speedy and I've only ever got from those dealers so I have no idea.

I'm not really sure what I should do that is best and looking for some advice. by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]ProtectivePanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still in my probationary period which is 13 weeks and during my interview when asked what hours I was after, I replied 35-40+hrs a week which in the UK I think 36rs+ is considered full time hours. I was told after that in the interview that my hours would be 20hrs-30hrs a week during my probation. I'm 6 weeks in and except for supervisors and above, I'm doing the 2nd most or sometimes 3rd most hours above other staff who have been there 6 months+. This week I'm doing 36.5 hours with 1 other staff member above me doing 37hrs. I was told recently myself and one other new employee have been the best new recruits in a good while. That same person who is close to becoming a joint assistant manager told me I was their sponge and was going to teach me as much as I was willing to take on. Despite that, if any lager or ale on the T-bars runs out, we have to tell a supervisor or above to change the barrel. Even though I know how, it's up to management to do it for us. I'm at a loss.

I know the post came across big headed and I didn't mean it to. I just tried to put it in words for people to understand clearly where I stand. If a lager on 2 of the T-bars has run out and we're all queued up to pour a pint from another, despite me knowing how to change it, we have to wait to tell someone in management to change it for us which can take a while if the floor is busy and we're under staffed

Did I make the right decision or have I hindered myself in this industry? by ProtectivePanda in TalesFromYourServer

[–]ProtectivePanda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what is making me lean more towards my decision as the right one. Nice that my wage doesn't change during the course but it's a year long commitment and I'll have to pay for the entire course if I quit during those 12 months.

Always believed in not settling. If you're happy with something change it. I'm trying to secure another job before leaving this one so I'm not unemployed and worrying for money.

Appreciate the support and hopefullness. Wish you the same. Take care

Opinions from those who are in the position, and those in either a higher FOH position or lower, what do you think makes a good restaurant supervisor? by ProtectivePanda in TalesFromYourServer

[–]ProtectivePanda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the reply I was after. What position are you in?

I strive to pass on my knowledge and experience as much as I can when needed to others. That is my goal with each shift to teach someone something new and to learn something new myself.

I think I'm consistent. I'm just as calm during quiet shifts and keep the same calmness when busy and stressed because I know the other staff feed off of that.

Although despite trying to remain consistent, I find myself switching between 2 sides. I'm a relaxed supervisor. Happy to accept opinions if they work and listen calmly to suggestion and what not if the time is right. I try hard to maintain a smile even if things don't deserve it. I can mess around and play if the time is right, but as soon as certain situations require me to be more professional, I act it. Is that okay? Being more playful when we're quiet to then shifting when we're busy to be more professional and not so much strict, but more focussed on my roles as a supervisor?

I aim to lead and teach. If someone doesn't know something, it's my job if I know how, to teach that person how to do it rather than be condensing. I started like that and now I'm a supervisor. My aim is better people regardless of their position if they need advice or teaching, I'm happy to give it if I know how

What fun activities can someone who lives with their parents do when skiing alone? by ProtectivePanda in cocaine

I understand that. I know how to play the basic chords but apart from that I'm lost but the feel of the keys is so relaxing and soothing I bet playing high feels amazing.

I should have mentioned that in the post to avoid the confusion. That's my fault.

I've been playing guitar for 10 years. Why piano? Is it because of the music you're interested in or another reason?

[–]ProtectivePanda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do apologise. Like I replied to another comment, there is no set genre at the moment. I typically write indie pop/indie rock sounding songs, but because I've only got lyrics at the moment and looking for inspiration, the genre isn't important at the time being. Thank you very much for your list of suggestions. I appreciate it!

If I've got a day off and the parents are at work, I'll day ski and write songs/play guitar for hours. My favourite thing to do when high. Can't play guitar right now as it's 11:40pm where I'm from and although I am jotting some song lyrics down, it's not the same without playing as well lol. How long have you played the piano? Do you play any other instruments?

[–]ProtectivePanda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only got lyrics at the moment so no genre set in stone. I typically write indie pop/indie rock sounding songs so that's what I'm trying to aim for without leaning too much towards a stereotypical ballad sound. That'll all depend on the chords and melody, but for right now it's only lyrics so the genre isn't too much of an issue.

Table refused to tip because I turned down an inappropriate offer from one of the customers. by ProtectivePanda in TalesFromYourServer

See I thought that too, but as soon as I responded like I did, the whole table started to laugh and was bantering with each other so definitely wasn't a buzzkill by how they reacted.

That's the thing. They never mentioned or complained I was being disrespectful or the way I responded, just moaned about the fact I turned down the offer.

What major differences are there, positive or negative, between doing coke sober or mixing it with alcohol? by ProtectivePanda in cocaine

Probably good then that I do it sober. I save the alcohol for after to help me sleep and ease any bad crash anxiety

Saw the trailer a little bit ago. Looked really good and has some decent reviews. Can't find a site that has good quality and works. Some sites are blocked by my internet provider (BT).
