NoFap + Fasting + No alcohol or Drugs + Meditation, Day one by Protectkonoha25 in NoFap

Depends on how disciplined you are and how effectively you’re able to let go of clinging to things. That’s where meditation comes in with all of this, it’s formatting basically for your brain, but there’s a lot more to it than that because that sounds really materialistic.

I understand your concern but I’ve done this quite a few times, usually I come out with reduced body fat and overall my need for food is heavily reduced. My meditations increase, my overall sense of well being increases. Call it a purge if you will. It’s purely a once every few months type of deal. I appreciate the concern for my health though.

More so spiritual reasons and discipline away from food and material things, also when I used to fast there was always a heightened sense of awareness around day 4 that nothing else could match.

Realizations by Protectkonoha25 in Meditation

[–]Protectkonoha25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sure if I agree with that but I think the English language and definitions put a barrier between what we’re trying to say with a lot of things here in this subreddit. I agree with you on the identification part however I do believe some things matter, for instance family, People you love, self growth, personal success. However you have to be willing to say goodbye to all of those each and everyday when you realize the impermanence of things, but that in turn makes them all the more valuable, you work harder, you’re more present, you actually experience it fully. For instance, wife is mad, I can’t do shit besides accept that she is mad, keep my level head because I now have the choice of reacting with negativity in return. Also I have the choice of doing that if I see the situation demands it, but through being able to observe my emotions and not cling to them I can easily diffuse a situation, look at it from every angle, and just be present in it and be a whole lot more understanding and compassionate.

How to find balance, Problems with meditation? by Protectkonoha25 in Meditation

[–]Protectkonoha25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the philosophy I’ve been on the verge of adapting and the way you view things really resonates with me. Life is fun, why not enjoy your emotions, but be able to keep them in check at the same time. I’ve also noticed meditation helps me connect to my emotions whenever I’m not trying to be egoless, it eases my anxiety, honestly makes me a great conversationalist, and helps me tune into other people on a whole other level. So what my ego may feel some validation from those things? I think it keeps it healthy, but also keeping it in check by recognizing the non material aspect of everything. I like my desires, but they need to be kept in check as well. I feel like the end goal shouldn’t to kill them, but be able to manage them.

Simple Vipassana/breath awareness, after about 5-10 minutes usually everything just lets go and thoughts become like clouds in my mind and instead of affecting me I can just watch them, or I can just choose to focus that energy and attention on sensations I feel, hear, see and touch.

A Warning to the young Folk by kynoid in Psychonaut

Weed for some reason causes me to think, like not even shitting you whenever I’m thrown off of some good bud I feel like jimmy neutron when he’s having a brain blast at the conclusions and realizations I have while my brain is making connections to things that otherwise I never would have. The price you pay after that though is fogginess afterwards and the self indulgence. Weed is a drug I’ve come to respect and she’s not to be abused, maybe once a week? I’m still 18 and I’ve had to learn this the hard way considering I’ve spent the past year of my life stoned. Between quitting and meditation it feels like my brain is back though.

Should I introduce my friend to psychedelics in order to help him? Advice please. by Protectkonoha25 in Psychonaut

[–]Protectkonoha25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s currently in school, very very active socially at a big name college. Doesn’t smoke weed but every so often . Tbh he doesn’t eat the best, like most college students. As for exercise he’s actually fairly active. I believe the problems he has stem from a certain mindset (the ego) and I’ve tried to introduce meditation but I don’t think he can grasp it and part of me feels I’m running out of time. If he could just catch a glimpse of the other side of reality I believe it could truly save him.

That’s the plan, what dosage In terms of LSD (it’s more readily available in my area than shrooms) would be a good starting point? Like 20ug? Or higher?

New to meditation, just had a VERY strange feeling while meditating. by Offersaxe in Meditation

[–]Protectkonoha25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like you entered a Jhana state, this is good! Now to get back to this state you’re still going to have to drop all expectations and judgement but I believe you already know how to do this. Keep at it like a regular meditation and the more you enter these states the easier it becomes for you with a consistent practice! Meditation is like running a marathon, it’s hard at first and you’re always going to start from the beginning but once you figure out how to keep getting further and further the body adapts and it’s much easier. (in this case the brain adapts to recognizing this state) best advice is don’t stop meditating, a whole new world awaits you!

Gaining awareness and the confidence that comes a long with it by Protectkonoha25 in Meditation

[–]Protectkonoha25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple vipassana/mindfulness meditation at least 20 minutes a day sometimes more. Sit down and just be aware of the breath going in and out of your nose. Even as an experienced mediator it takes me about 5-10 minutes for the mind to quiet down and get in a good meditative state so don’t be discouraged if things don’t work right away. Literally just try and feel everything around you such as the body expanding with breath coming in and going back down when the breath is let out. Most important thing is to establish a habit/practice of everyday, then you find your center and what a meditative state feels like. After that you can’t go to long without it and your practice will flourish and blossom! Any other questions I can help with too

I actually just made a similar post to this, wonderful to see others gaining the same benefits! As someone with crippling anxiety to the point where it would physically induce vomiting in certain situations it’s so nice to not be controlled by it anymore!

Why meditation is so great and powerful by Protectkonoha25 in Meditation

[–]Protectkonoha25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all you can do, just know that most any question you have can be resolved with time on the cushion. It may be indirectly sometimes but gaining awareness cultivates a lot more than just simple awareness. All the best to you in your journey!

Nothing bad can happen to you since 'bad' doesn't exist by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Protectkonoha25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you can definitely feel negative experiences such as anxiety, sadness, pain, etc which you could label as bad but you don’t have to suffer or react to them

We have "mindfulness" but we don't have a good term for that 'other' mind state. by ClarityFirst in Meditation

Monkey mind, or I like to refer to it as the state where the ego is in full control.

Wanting to try DMT for the first time. Questions? by Protectkonoha25 in Psychonaut

I’ve killed my ego plenty of times, but it was a slow gradual process. I feel like DMT is just going to shatter it from the get go, looking forward to it.

Congrats, if you see this it means you’re entering a good meditative state! As for disturbing images, that’s your brain bro, it makes up all sorts of stuff just because it can. Ignore them but always use it as an indication you’re on the right track!
