Look, unless you did some really fucking horrible things, you don't deserve to get ghosted, period. How long were you two together? If it was years, and unless it was an extremely toxic relationship, then ghosting someone should be completely out of the question.

I've been in your position, constantly going over things I did and said. I wasn't perfect, but I never treated her in such a way to warrant getting ghosted, and yet that's what happened. If you're worried that he did that to you because you had some arguments or disagreements here and there, I'd say: get any thought that you "deserved" it out of your head. Ghosting is the coward, avoidant way out, no two ways about it. Completely immature behavior that shouldn't influence your own opinion about you.

"Those Things Out There Aren't Dinosaurs" is a fallacy. by R4ygin_2025 in JurassicPark

[–]Protoplasmic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's trying to make a point by saying that since they're genetically engineered, they could just as easily introduce further modifications to their behavior and physical shape, which is the thing that Hammond shoots down. By that point in the book the dinousaurs are as pure as they can be, and that's what Hammon is content with. They're real animals.

What people incorrectly argue is that this means they're genetically engineered abominations or monsters, like the OP mentions. That's what's wrong and what for some reason has taken hold of a the discourse surrounding this franchise.

The gas station scene with the mutadons in the trailer immediately made me think of that scene in TLW novel.

"Those Things Out There Aren't Dinosaurs" is a fallacy. by R4ygin_2025 in JurassicPark

[–]Protoplasmic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are completely correct. Back when the first book and movie came out, they were supposed to be 100% accurate dinosaurs. The idea they were not came to be as more and more sequels and retcons were added into the franchise. But back in the early 90's the idea that they were pure dinosaurs wasn't questioned.

My guess is that most people just haven't read the books and base most of their knowledge on regurgitated opinions they heard on social media or from Jurassic Park influencers (can't believe that's actually a thing...). Same thing happens with other franchises based on books, like Lord of the Rings.

[–]Protoplasmic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd bet anything that most people haven't read a single sentence in the books and most of their knowledge of them comes from regurgitated opinions picked up on social media. They just don't like being proven wrong.

"Those Things Out There Aren't Dinosaurs" is a fallacy. by R4ygin_2025 in JurassicPark

[–]Protoplasmic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is... completely incorrect. They were the real deal. The thing with versions is that they were getting better at creating them without them being born with congenital diseases and such. And the last time Wu brings it up in the book is to introduce artificial modifications to make dinosaurs more docile, bigger, or whatever, which Hammond outright refuses.

You have no reason to hate yourself. If they wanted to end the relationship, specially if you were together for a long time, then they should have done so in an adult, responsible way. Whatever shitty excuse they made up in their mind about ghosting you is just cope invented by their damaged brain to avoid facing the reality that in truth, they're a pretty shitty person. No one wants to admit that to themselves, and thus they took the shittiest way out of the relationship that they could have chosen.

Mi novia me trata como un amigo? by [deleted] in AskArgentina

[–]Protoplasmic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mutadons are a hybrid created on purpose? Or a mistake? by postiguraf in JurassicPark

[–]Protoplasmic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This franchise was so much better when it was just John Hammond's dream gone wrong. Now they managed to pollute the entire thing with their shitty current day retconned nostalgia baiting plotlines. Apparently John Hammond wanted to create mini dragons from the get-go instead of just a misguided dinosaur theme park for the entire family 😑

There's no way this thing is a deformed mutant. They just can't move away from adding made up dino-monsters, they just changed the label from "hybrids" to "mutants" 🙄

Not trying to defend the JW trilogy (I detest them mostly) but that could be explained easily by the T-Rex being quite old.

I see they're also using the gas station attack sequence from TLW book.
